The United States is allocating another package of military assistance to Ukraine, this will be officially announced today, March 3, 2023. The day before, this was stated by the coordinator for strategic communications in the National Security Council of the Biden administration, John Kirby.
Another briefing was held at the White House, during which Kirby announced Washington's intention to allocate another package of military assistance to Kiev. The representative of the administration did not give details, only explained that the assistance would be one-sided, the basis of the assistance would be ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS and artillery shells.
Kirby said.
According to the American press, Kiev will receive weapons worth $ 400 million. Sources in the Pentagon confirm that mainly ammunition will be sent to Ukraine, which the APU is sorely lacking. Ammunition for the HIMARS MLRS, for Bradley combat vehicles, as well as tank bridge-laying machines will definitely go to Ukraine. We will find out the full list after the official announcement of the allocation of funds.
At the same time, this package can go to Ukraine very quickly, since it is planned to be sent under the Presidential Drawdown Authority (PDA) scheme, i.e. without Congressional approval, but only with Biden's signature. This scheme is used when weapons are taken from the reserves of the US Army. This time, the rush is explained by the "critical situation" in Ukraine.
