The German Chancellor said that "the opposite is correct"MUNICH, February 17.
/tass/. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz believes that arms supplies to Kiev do not prolong the conflict in Ukraine, but, on the contrary, contribute to its speedy end. He expressed this opinion on Friday at the Munich Security Conference.
"It is not our arms supplies that prolong the war. The opposite is correct," Scholz said. In his opinion, only when Moscow realizes that it will not achieve its goals, "there will be a higher chance of an early end to the war."
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request from the leaders of the Donbass republics for help. The West then imposed large-scale sanctions against Russia. Western states have increased the supply of weapons and military equipment to Kiev in the amount of billions of dollars.
The Russian side has repeatedly stated that arms supplies to Ukraine only prolong the conflict.
