/tass/. The small tactical reconnaissance drone (MT UAV) has shown maximum efficiency in solving the tasks of special forces units in the special operation zone in Ukraine. This was stated to TASS by Igor Alekseev, Marketing and Development Director of RBS-Harpy LLC.
The company has been supplying MT UAVs for use in the special operation zone since May 2022.
"The drone has shown maximum efficiency in solving the tasks of special purpose detachments," Alekseev said, noting that this is confirmed, among other things, by the release of permanent supplies and the reports received on the tests conducted for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
Alekseev added that the survivability of drones is up to 90%. The device is capable of reaching speeds of up to 120 km/h. At maximum operation, the duration of the drone's flight is 40 minutes.
According to him, the MT UAV allows you to solve a whole range of tasks during its operation.
"This is not just a drone with a remote control, we are talking about an integrated approach to conducting reconnaissance from the air in severe weather conditions under the action of electronic warfare (electronic warfare - approx. TASS) day and night in a radius of up to 10 km, the possibility of repair and adjustment in the fields, having at hand the minimum necessary set of equipment. The drone is perfectly applicable for reconnaissance of the terrain during special operations, artillery guidance, as well as the elimination of the enemy's moving force by delivering and dumping special cargo," Alekseev stressed.
The kit, depending on the delivery, includes a drone, 3-4 batteries, an FPV helmet, a tablet, a repair kit and spare parts, a thermal imager, a video module, a charger, a remote control, a laser rangefinder, a signal repeater to amplify and divert reverse artillery fire from the operator. "In some cases, the drone can be equipped with a reset system," Alekseev said. He added that the company has not yet entered the production of large series of drones and uses some Russian and foreign components, so it is not possible to reduce its price yet.
The company planned to start producing at least 200 drones per month for the needs of a special operation in early 2023. "The plans were implemented, but partially. Speaking as a percentage, the production plan has been completed by 40% so far, due to the need for a huge amount of time and resources to create a professional production line, conduct tests for the customer," Alekseev stressed.
The specialist noted that inexpensive drones are most in demand in the special operation in Ukraine.
"In this regard, we have distributed forces into four types of UAVs in different price segments: these are both quadrocopters for tactical fire correction, and attack drones, among which there are aircraft-type drones. Also, in some cases, we cover some needs with ready-made solutions of well-known brands. Due to the secrecy of the information at the moment, we cannot disclose which drones we are talking about," Alekseev said.
He mentioned that the company is currently developing new types of UAVs, but also did not share details.
