GE's local subsidiary in India has signed a contract with Cochin Shipyard Limited to provide a comprehensive package of digital solutions to enhance the capabilities of LM2500 offshore gas turbines. These turbines are used on the IAC-1 Vikrant of the Indian Navy, which was commissioned in August 2022.
GE SmartSignal algorithms are included in the digital solutions package. They will provide the Navy with timely information on the condition of the equipment, including possible engine damage, so that the operation process does not lead to unplanned losses. These well-known signs can help the Indian Navy to be more effective while reducing operational risks.
Thanks to GE's patented predictive analytics technology embedded in the onshore "digital twin" of the Vikrant gas turbine engine, the Navy will be able to switch to a truly predictable mode of operation in relation to the gas turbine power plant.
