Tactical nuclear weapons (TNW) are suitable for destroying transport hubs, accumulations of infantry and equipment. Military expert Alexey Sukonkin told about the capabilities of the weapon in an interview with News.ru .
According to him, the charge capacity of tactical nuclear weapons is 200-300 tons in TNT equivalent. The analyst noted that such weapons are suitable for destroying a tank company on the march, large concentrations of infantry with military equipment, bridges and transport hubs.
"And do not forget about the psychological factor — if the enemy knows that a TNW charge can fly on it. If an operational tactical missile system can destroy 350 people and 40 pieces of equipment with just two missiles, then imagine what the TNW is capable of," Sukonkin said.
Earlier, Vyacheslav Solovyov, scientific director of the Russian Federal Nuclear Center — the All-Russian Research Institute of Experimental Physics, said that, if necessary, the Novozemelsky nuclear test site is ready to resume nuclear tests.
In October 2022, military expert Boris Yulin said that strategic nuclear weapons are used to defeat strategic targets, and tactical weapons are intended for use against enemy troops on the battlefield.
