TSAMTO, February 13. Russia offers India the joint development of a non-nuclear submarine of Project 75 (I) based on the Russian Amur-1650 platform with a localization level of up to 70-80%.
Vladimir Drozhzhov, Deputy Director of the Federal Customs Service, said this in an interview with RIA Novosti during the Aero India 2023 exhibition.
He stressed that the Russian side had informed the Indian side that it would not take part in the tender for the construction of submarines of Project 75(I). A tender for the construction of six submarines based on partnership with foreign companies was announced by India in 2021.
"We offer Indian partners another option for cooperation on this topic, including joint design and production of a national non-nuclear submarine under the 75(I) program on the basis of an intergovernmental agreement. Taking into account our experience of working with the Indian side on other naval projects, localization of production during the implementation of the Project 75(I) submarine construction program based on the Russian Amur-1650 platform can be brought up to 70-80%," V. Drozhzhov told RIA Novosti.
According to him, as an air-independent power plant, the Indian side is offered an engine of both Russian or Indian production and a joint Russian-Indian one.
"This approach fully satisfies the principles of "Do in India" and our strategic partnership," the deputy head of the Federal Customs Service added.
The Amur-class submarines are positioned as an export version of the Lada Project 677 submarines and the upgraded version of the Varshavyanka Project 636 with improved acoustic stealth, new combat systems and the option of installing an anaerobic air-independent power plant (VNEU). The new submarines belong to the fourth generation.
The Amur-1650 project involves the creation of a submarine with a diving depth of up to 300 m, a speed of 19/22 knots, an autonomy of 45 days and a crew of 35 people. The submarine may be armed with Kalibr or Brahmos missiles, torpedoes and mines, the agency reports.
