Ukraine will remain without Leopard 2 tanks, previously promised to Kiev by the Netherlands. Amsterdam said that Germany refused to sell leased tanks to the kingdom.
The Netherlands rents 18 German Leopard 2A6 tanks from Germany, which were considered by the government of the kingdom as military assistance to Ukraine. Prime Minister Mark Rutte intended to buy this armored vehicle from the Germans, but Berlin allegedly refused Amsterdam, despite the application sent. On the eve of the refusal to supply tanks to Kiev, Dutch Defense Minister Kaisa Ollongren also confirmed. According to her, the 18 Leopard 2 tanks leased from Germany will not be provided to Ukraine, since Berlin vetoed it.
Meanwhile, the German Defense Ministry was very surprised by such a statement and stated that they had not seen any requests from the Dutch regarding the transfer of tanks to Ukraine at all. According to a representative of the German defense ministry, he had not heard of any request.

Earlier it was reported that the Netherlands will finance the purchase and shipment to Ukraine of a "three-digit number" of Leopard 1 tanks from the Rheinmetall concern and Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft mbH (FFG), which have about 187 units of heavy armored vehicles for two. Denmark will be the second sponsor. Germany itself has an indirect relation to this transaction, since all equipment belongs to private companies and is not state-owned.
