The Su-24MK bombers of the Iranian Air Force (Air Force) received the Asef long-range cruise missile. The aircraft with new ammunition, which increased its strike capabilities, was shown on February 7, the Tasnim agency writes .
The Su-24MK with the Asef air-launched cruise missile was shown at the opening of the first underground base of the Iranian Air Force "Ogab-44". It is noted that the missile received a powerful warhead that allows it to destroy heavy equipment and structures.
The Su-24MK is an export version of the Su-24M front-line bomber. The aircraft can carry up to seven thousand kilograms of combat load on eight armament suspension nodes. The Su-24MK made its first flight in 1987.
Earlier it became known that Iran has commissioned the Ogab-44 base, which is capable of hosting and servicing all types of fighters and bombers, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles in service with the Iranian Air Force.
In January, the commander of the ground forces of the Iranian Armed Forces, Brigadier General Kiyumars Heidari, said that Tehran had established its own production of high-precision missiles and smart ammunition.
