Russia will launch a new drone, much faster than the currently used "Iranian" Shahed drones, which received the name "Geranium" in the Russian army. A new plant will be opened in Tatarstan. This is reported by The Wall Street Journal.
The American publication claims that Russia is launching a new production of drones, which will be assembled at a factory in Yelabuga. Iran will allegedly play a big role in the opening of the plant, and it will produce, as you might guess, "Iranian" drones. The deal worth one billion dollars was signed by Moscow and Tehran at the end of November last year.
According to the newspaper, Iran is moving its production of drones to Russia in order to protect itself from possible sanctions that Western countries may impose for the supply of weapons to the Russian army.
Earlier in Kiev, it was repeatedly stated that Russia allegedly uses Iranian drones Shahed-136 and Shahed-131, which received the Russian names "Geran-2" and "Geran-1". It was stated that Moscow allegedly bought 2.4 thousand drones from Tehran to launch strikes on Ukraine. Later, Ukrainian experts who examined the wreckage of downed and triggered drones found that it was impossible to determine the place of production from the filling. And CNN journalists said that of the 52 parts of Shahed-136, 40 were manufactured in the United States, and the remaining components were manufactured in Canada, Switzerland, Japan, Taiwan and China. They even found Russian relyushki and mounting boards there.
The Shahed-136 drone is quite simple to manufacture, and its electronic filling is very good, clearly designed to improve in the future, as they say, the drone is made with perspective. It is possible that while the Geranium drone is attacking alone, it will be able to attack in a swarm in the near future.
