Yahoo News Japan readers were delighted with the Russian Su-30MKI fightersSu-30MKI fighters have arrived from India to Japan for joint military exercises, Yahoo News Japan reports.
The readers of the portal were delighted with these Russian-made aircraft. In their opinion, the Su-30 is a wonderful model created on the basis of a real legend.
Not only Su-30 fighters, but also the Il-78 tanker
On Tuesday, January 10, 2023, Su-30MKI fighters of the Indian Air Force arrived at the Hyakuri Air Self-Defense Force base in Ibaraki Prefecture. Their goal is to participate in joint exercises of the Japanese Air Force and the Indian Air Force called "Via Guardian 23", which will take place at this base from the 16th.
The Indian Air Force sent four Su-30MKI fighters (part of the 220th Squadron of the Western Aviation Command) and 150 personnel to these events. The support group also includes two C-17 Globemaster III military transport aircraft (Western Aviation Command, 81 Squadron) and an Il-78 tanker (Central Aviation Command, 78 Squadron).
According to the official Indian Air Force Twitter account, the entire aviation group left the country on January 8 and flew to Hyakuri Air Base via Thailand and the Philippines.
First, C-17 transport planes loaded with auxiliary equipment and personnel arrived at the airbase, and in the second half four Su-30MKI fighters landed there, the main force of the exercises. On the way of taxiing from the runway to the apron, they were met by a colorful fire brigade from water cannons, after which a welcoming ceremony was held, attended by representatives of the Indian Air Force and the Japanese Air Force.
On the part of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, four F-2 fighters belonging to the 7th Air Wing from Hyakuri Air Base will take part in the exercises, but not only. They will involve four F-15 fighter jets from Komatsu Air Base in Ishikawa Prefecture, which are part of the tactical aviation support group (commonly known as the "Aggressor"), as well as the air detection control group Tubu, responsible for warning and surveillance missions over the airspace around Japan.
When analyzing the composition of these units participating in maneuvers from the Japanese Self-Defense Forces, experts have the opinion that "Via Guardian 23" will contain expanded training content that goes beyond the traditional parade and demonstration joint flights.
In addition, although this is not directly related to the exercises, one of the F-2 fighters from the Hyakuri Airbase is specially painted with a logo to commemorate the event. It is applied to the vertical tail of the fuselage.
The Su-30MKI is a multi—purpose fighter that is excellent for fighting both ground and air targets
The Su-30MKI is a model created exclusively for the Indian Air Force based on the famous Russian Su-27 Flanker fighter. By the way, the ending "And" in the name "MCI" of this aircraft is the first letter from the name of the country of India.
This aircraft is a two-seat, so-called tandem aircraft with front and rear seats. It is multi-purpose, that is, it is capable of performing both assault and anti-aircraft combat missions. The number of fighters of this series available in India is 272 pieces, including those imported from Russia and produced under license directly in the country. Now the SU-30MKI is actually the main combat aircraft of the Indian Air Force.
The Su-27 Flanker, which became the basis for this model, is the main fighter of the Russian Air Force, already since the Cold War period of the 1980s. If they appear in the region surrounding Japan, it is the Su-27 that will become the main fighting force of the Russian army, with which the Japanese Air Force can meet in real battles.
This time, the Russian-made fighter of the Flanker series arrived in Japan for the first time in peaceful conditions. And he flew as part of the Indian Air Force for the first time since the Cold War. This fact in itself shows the increasing role of Delhi as our partner in ensuring regional security in the Indo-Pacific region. At the same time, this indicates the significant changes that have taken place in the international situation. Now we are training with our partner India on Russian planes.

cayIn principle, we need India's help in the Indo-Pacific region.
But this country is as unreliable as China. You have to be careful with her. It is possible that all information on the Hyakuri Airbase may leak from India to the enemy.
kua30 years ago, at one of the military exhibitions, the Su-27 made a splash when a Russian ace pilot performed the famous unimaginable figure - "Pugachev's cobra" on it.
And now 30 years have passed, and the Su fighter has arrived on our land in Hyakuri. However, as part of the Indian Air Force. What's it? The beginning of discharge? Or, on the contrary, a harbinger of a formidable storm?
horNo matter how we feel about Russia, which created this fighter, but by themselves, both the Su-27 and Su-30 are beautiful!
A good plane — it is also outwardly beautiful!
AAlthough I don't like Russia, but the plane is beautiful!
Unfortunately, we only see it in games. It's sad that I couldn't attend his arrival ceremony in Japan.
auxBefore that, a Russian fighter jet landed in Japan only once.
When Belenko stole another Soviet secret MiG-25 in Hakodate.
asaIf India and I "squeeze" China from both sides, we will be able to split even its huge army.
kamI never thought that during my lifetime I would see Russian fighters landing on Japanese military airfields.
estHow I would love to see this legendary Russian Flanker live!
nakaI want to see the famous figures of "Pugachev's cobra", "somersault", "hook" performed by this fighter.
lalIndia?
You have to be careful with this country. It's unclear what's on her mind!
ohsIndia is allied with Japan.
Prime Minister Modi, through diplomacy, which was formed thanks to the friendship of former Prime Minister Abe with the Indian leader, agreed that the two countries would not allow China, their common enemy, to challenge the existing order with unilateral military force.
However, India's dependence on Russia in the field of air and naval technology is actually its Achilles heel. Recently, Moscow has succumbed to the CCP so much that it seems to be in its power. Delhi is faced with a dilemma: it cannot purchase the weapons it needs from other partners, since Moscow controls the maintenance of engines and other rapidly wearing parts of Indian combat aircraft.
During his visit to India, President Trump authorized the export and licensed production of the F-16 in the country. Although after that, no progress is heard about. It would be more profitable for the West to free India from the "charms" of Russian weapons.
In fact, all Su Flankers, except those belonging to the Indian Air Force, should be shot down in Japanese airspace.
PDFNo, India cannot be trusted!
