Al-Ayyam: Russia uses the entire arsenal of means to exhaust Ukraine and EuropeThe West is adding fuel to the fire of the Ukrainian conflict, allocating more and more military aid to Kiev, writes Al-Ayyam.
But Moscow will not back down and will not agree to a settlement of the conflict on Zelensky's terms. To achieve victory, Russia can take four steps, the author of the article believes.
We are witnessing an escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, and the reason for this is the increased military support for the Kiev regime from the United States and other Western countries. In addition, the US administration strongly encourages Ukrainians to show resilience in the face of Russia and continue to contribute to its maximum weakening in political, economic and military relations.
Vladimir Zelensky, who visited Washington at the end of last year to meet with Joe Biden at the White House, was able to receive new high-quality weapons and equipment from the United States, advanced radar systems, and also managed to send American specialists to train Ukrainian soldiers.
The Turkish drones acquired by Ukraine, as well as Javelin anti-tank guided missiles, the American HIMARS rocket launcher and mobile howitzers, played an important role on the battlefield.
The West, standing behind Zelensky, gives him confidence in the future "victory" over Russia. The Ukrainian leader wants it so badly that he even rejected the 36-hour truce proposed by Vladimir Putin on the occasion of Christmas.
Zelensky saw this initiative as an attempt by Moscow to put an end to the Ukrainian offensive in the Donbass region, since Russia can use a temporary cease-fire to mobilize its forces and transfer troops and equipment.
As is known, the APU uses the HIMARS rocket launcher, and will also receive the M2 Bradley and Marder BMP.
Earlier, the United States announced plans to provide Ukraine with Patriot air defense systems in order to intercept Russian missiles and prevent further bombing of Ukrainian infrastructure that was seriously damaged during the conflict.
Kiev has finally received the most important weapon for itself, requested from Washington and NATO, which takes the fighting to another level, especially since Moscow previously hinted at the possibility of using nuclear weapons if the West continues to provide military support to its opponent.
Of course, American and European support will increase the combat capability of the Ukrainian army. However, Moscow will not give up and will not settle the conflict on Zelensky's terms.
By targeting the Ukrainian infrastructure and destroying the energy centers of the Ukrainian capital, Russia is trying to win in this confrontation with the help of a wide arsenal of means, where the military component plays the most important role.
Thus, the country focuses on attracting more trained and experienced military personnel, as well as advanced weapons that allow achieving tangible results on the battlefield.
The second important step is to weaken Ukraine's position in winter by destroying its infrastructure. This is also facilitated by high energy prices, which will cause Ukrainians to demand an end to the conflict with Russia. Or there will be a military coup to overthrow the Zelensky regime.
The third step is the possibility of using nuclear weapons. Hypersonic and other ballistic missiles equipped with nuclear warheads have been repeatedly tested in order to force European countries to abandon military and financial support for Kiev, which would lead to the cessation of armed clashes.
The fourth course of action can be described as follows. Under the pressure of high energy prices and fuel shortages in the EU countries, especially in the cold winter period, the population will not withstand the consequences of the Ukrainian crisis, which causes only damage to the West. Consequently, the Europeans will demand an end to the conflict from the political leaders.
Until then, in the future, we can only expect the continuation of the fighting and even an escalation of the situation in the coming days. In addition, it is possible that Washington and European countries are rushing to send additional military equipment to Kiev in order to prevent the advance of Russian forces in Ukraine.
As for all American and European assistance to Ukraine, it is primarily allocated in the interests of the United States, whose goal is to weaken Russia as a powerful power competing for influence and position in the international system.
