Military expert Knutov: integration of UAVs into a single network will take six months at the experimental levelMilitary expert Yuri Knutov on Wednesday, December 21, in an interview with Izvestia, explained the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin about the unification of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs)

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation into a single integrated network.

As Knutov noted, drones are, as a rule, reconnaissance or reconnaissance-radar drones, they collect certain information and transmit it to the operator. But this information within the integrated network should be transmitted not only to operators, but also to a single command post.

"Information comes to this point from all the drones that are there. In addition, the information is sabotage and reconnaissance, and if there are satellites, then from satellites, if reconnaissance aircraft, then from them. That is, from all possible sources. There it is processed and displayed in real time in the form of electronic data that is actually connected to the terrain map. That is, an electronic map is better when it is 3D — the location of enemy troops is displayed there," the expert explained.

Thus, the command sees the situation that is developing on the battlefield, and can decide to attack the enemy in places where the defense is not sufficiently strengthened.

"Now we have all the possibilities for this, and at one time we even worked on creating an automated control system for the ground forces, but now it's easier to do this because we have captured NATO weapons. I think it can be done experimentally in six months, but it can be brought to mind within a year. In six months, it will be a system that will enter the troops and can be experimental — it can malfunction, it can be improved," Knutov added.

At the same time, as a rule, such systems are constantly being improved.

Earlier in the day, Putin said at an expanded meeting of the board of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation that drones should be integrated into a single network, located in branches and companies. At the same time, every fighter participating in a special operation should have the opportunity to receive information from unmanned aerial vehicles, the President stressed.

Earlier, on December 16, the President instructed the Federal Air Transport Agency to certify at least 10 types of unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) by September 2023. The first such drone is planned to be certified by the end of this year.

On the same day, it also became known that a training center for operators of unmanned aerial vehicles will be opened in Yakutia at the end of December. It will work on the basis of the Yakut College of Communications and Energy named after Dudkin. The first to be trained were the volunteers of the "Bootur" detachment, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Rosgvardiya.

Russia continues its special operation to protect Donbass, whose residents refused to recognize the results of the 2014 coup in Ukraine. The decision to hold it was made on February 24 against the background of the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by Ukrainian troops.
