In the United States, flights of 20 B-2 Spirit strategic bombers in service with the country's air force have been temporarily suspended. This decision was made by the US military Air Command, according to the official representative of the US Air Force Beth Del Vecchio.
According to the US military, the suspension of flights is due to the need to conduct a thorough investigation of possible safety problems that may occur during bomber flights.
Currently, the only runway used by B-2 aircraft remains closed. It was closed after one of the American bombers made an emergency landing due to technical problems. Now the military will check all the B-2 aircraft used by the US Air Force.
The Air Force command promised that as soon as experts check the condition of all aircraft, flights of strategic bombers will resume. Recall that the B-2 Spirit strategic bombers are designed to deliver conventional or nuclear weapons. They were used by the United States in a number of military conflicts of our time, including aggression against Yugoslavia, bombing targets in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya.
Almost all B-2s of the US Air Force are part of the 509th Bomb Wing of the 8th Air Force of the Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC), with the exception of 1 aircraft assigned to the 412th Test Wing of the Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC).
