A branch of JSC "AEM-technologies" Izhora (part of the engineering division of Rosatom — Atomenergomash) completed the shipment of hydraulic capacities of the passive core bay system (SPZAZ) for the second power unit of the Akkuyu NPP (Turkey).
A set of eight SPZAZ hydraulic capacities went to the construction site of Turkey's first nuclear power plant – that's how much is needed for the system to work. The outer diameter of each vessel is 4.2 meters, length – 11 meters, weight – 80 tons. The path of the equipment to the installation site along the Baltic Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, and then the Mediterranean Sea will be more than eight thousand kilometers.
For reference:SPZAZ is the most important element of the NPP safety system.
In case of an emergency situation in the first circuit of the reactor, it eliminates residual heat generation. An aqueous solution of boric acid heated to 60 degrees is stored in containers. If the pressure in the primary circuit drops below a certain level, the liquid is automatically fed into the reactor and cools the core. The production of equipment of this level of reliability for export supplies in full compliance with contractual obligations demonstrates the high technological potential of Russian nuclear engineering and the confident preservation of its leading position in international markets.Akkuyu NPP in Turkey is the world's first project in the nuclear industry, implemented according to the BOO model ("build–own-operate" - "build–own-operate").
The project includes four power units with Russian VVER-type reactors of the "3+" generation with increased safety and improved technical and economic characteristics. The design of the facility is carried out by the Engineering Division of Rosatom State Corporation. The capacity of each NPP power unit will be 1200 MW.JSC "AEM-technologies" is the largest manufacturing company in the structure of JSC "Atomenergomash" - the engineering division of the State Corporation "Rosatom".
Currently, it is one of the leading Russian companies in the field of power engineering and the only Russian company with a full production cycle: from its own production of metallurgical blanks to finished high-tech oversized products with the possibility of shipment anywhere in the world. The structure of JSC "AEM-Technologies" includes an engineering center in Kolpino (St. Petersburg), staffed by experienced designers and technologists, and four production branches: in Kolpino (Izhora and AEM-Specialstal), Volgodonsk (Atommash) and Petrozavodsk (Petrozavodskmash). Currently, JSC AEM-Technologies produces equipment for Kursk NPP-2, as well as for nuclear power plants Paksh-2 (Hungary) Akkuyu (Turkey), El-Dabaa (Egypt), Kudankulam (India), Ruppur (Bangladesh), "Xudapu" and the Tianwan NPP (China). In total, the portfolio of orders for 2022-2032 includes sets of equipment for 23 nuclear power units in 7 countries of the world.Atomenergomash JSC is a machine–building division of Rosatom State Corporation, one of the leading power engineering companies in Russia in terms of production and revenue.
The holding is a complete supplier of equipment for the reactor island and the engine room of all Russian-designed nuclear power plants under construction, a manufacturer of equipment for LNG projects, waste-to-energy processing plants, a developer and supplier of integrated solutions for energy, oil and gas, shipbuilding and other industries. Our technologies and equipment ensure the operation of about 20% of nuclear power plants in the world. The company unites leading research, engineering and manufacturing enterprises in Russia and abroad. It is a member of the Union of Machine Builders of Russia. www.aem-group.ru © Rosatom
