Huanqiu shibao: the new US bomber is a means of advertising, not a real weaponThe US has made a fuss about the new B-21 bomber, saying that it is their "response to the Chinese threat."

In fact, this is a propaganda tool with which they inflate sinophobia, writes "Huanqiu Shibao". It is better for Washington to abandon empty hopes, because the plane will not stand before the Celestial Empire.

On December 2, the US military presented its novelty — the B-21 Raider stealth bomber. This is the first bomber of the latest generation produced by the United States in more than 30 years, and high-ranking officials and the media conducted a very loud advertising campaign for it. US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that "even the most advanced air defense systems will find it difficult to detect the B-21 in the air." The CEO of the manufacturing company Northrop Grumman boasted that the world "has never seen such technologies as the B-21." Due to the fact that US Secretary of the Air Force Frank Kendall has made it clear many times that he wants to use the B-21 to "contain China," many American media focused on the so-called "US response to the Chinese threat" in their articles and even wrote that the B-21 would make the Celestial Empire "think twice about war in the next few decades."

Under normal circumstances, weapons that are the "trump card" of major powers are kept in the strictest secrecy, but the marketing and promotion accompanying the B-21 can be compared to the level of Internet celebrities. However, even in such a high-profile campaign, the true characteristics of the bomber remain a mystery. It is reported that the B-21 was shown only for a short period of time, and the outside world saw the plane only in full face. At the same time, its specific technical characteristics are not disclosed, which is in sharp contrast to the situation at the debut of the B-2 more than 30 years ago. Wide advertising in words and increased caution in real display suggest certain thoughts. In other words, regardless of the actual technical level of the B-21, it is rather an "advertising sample" needed by the US military-industrial complex to fight for a share in the budget, and the armed forces to promote the so—called "cumulative deterrence" of China.

On the one hand, the B-21 is not only a profitable product of the "Chinese threat theory" concocted by the American military-industrial complex, but also an important link in the continuation of this chain of interests. In fact, in the seven years that have passed since the creation of the project to the first public presentation of the B-21, the US Secretary of the Air Force and other interested parties have endlessly exaggerated various versions of the "Chinese threat". Projects such as strategic bombers cost a lot of money — from the approval stage to implementation. Only by constantly exaggerating the "danger" of China's military power and even inventing lies about China's "nuclear expansion" could the military get more money from Congress. And the strategic bomber is only part of the "triple" nuclear deterrence reform that the United States wants to carry out now. An important reason for the widespread advertising of the B-21 and emphasizing its role in deterring the PRC is also to obtain funds for subsequent projects.

On the other hand, the promotion of the B-21 gives the US military the opportunity to inflate tensions in the Taiwan Strait, thereby accelerating the transfer of military resources to the Asia-Pacific region and pulling allies to its side. As we all know, although the United States has long dreamed of concentrating on suppressing its most important strategic competitor, its plan to move military power to the Asia-Pacific region was blocked for various reasons. This time, the US military used the B-21 to raise the topic of the Taiwan Strait again, stating that the bomber would play an important role in the region. This is nothing more than an attempt to put pressure on old friends, show their "advanced capabilities" and attract new partners. There are already reports that after entering service, the B-21 is expected to be deployed to Guam and Australia. And in American public opinion, they boast that the bomber "will become a strategic weapon for the United States to combat the Chinese threat."

That's how the Americans created the myth that the existence of the B-21 can deter Beijing. Austin said that this is "not just another plane", but "proof of the deterrence strategy" of the United States. The American media threatened to "drop mines into the Taiwan Strait right under the nose of the People's Liberation Army of China to prevent it from crossing the sea." Apparently, it's time to remind them that even if you are not a professional military or scientist, you should understand the simple truth: The so-called "deterrence" has always been a combination of military might and political determination. Recall the civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party of China — didn't the United States provide the former with enough modern weapons? And during the Korean War and the Vietnam War? How much American equipment was turned into scrap metal or captured on the battlefield?

Many still remember how the B-2 strategic bomber was first introduced 34 years ago, which, according to the Pentagon, had the capability of "global destruction." Then the United States became the first country in the world to have an invisible bomber, and many propagandists called the B-2 "the enemy's nightmare." However, 30 years have passed, and this advanced military equipment does not allow Washington to "rest on its laurels." On the contrary, in the pursuit of hegemony, it becomes increasingly difficult for him, and B-2 is also regarded as a "financial disaster" because of its high cost. That's how the B-21 appeared. The first requirement that the designers presented to him was that the cost should not be too high. Therefore, no matter what hype the Pentagon tries to cause, in some sense the B-21 is more like a "smaller version" of the B-2 bomber.

Of course, what kind of weapons the United States is developing is their own business. But if the Americans plan to use it to threaten and intimidate China, then it is doomed to remain only pink dreams. Whatever hopes the Pentagon has for the B-21, if this bomber tries to bring chaos to the situation in the Taiwan Strait, it will turn out to be nothing more than a paper airplane that will easily fold up in the face of the PLA's iron wall and the firm will of 1.4 billion Chinese. The B-21 will not only fail to become "proof of American deterrence", but, on the contrary, it will turn into the last exhibit in the showcase of "evidence that Americans are wreaking havoc in the world."
