The press service of Uralvagonzavod reported that the new protection makes it possible to increase the survivability and effectiveness of the use of armored vehicles not only during combined arms combat, but also during combat operations with the massive use of anti-tank weaponsMOSCOW, December 2.
/tass/. The Uralvagonzavod Research and Production Corporation (part of the Uralvagonzavod Concern (UVZ) of the Rostec State Corporation) has supplied the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation with a batch of modernized T-72B3M tanks. This was reported to TASS on Friday in the press service of the UVZ.
Uralvagonzavod has sent a batch of T-72B3M tanks to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. Work on the modernization of the T-72B to the level of the upgraded T-72B3 was carried out within the framework of the state defense order. A set of measures for the modernization of "seventy-two" was developed by design engineers of the Ural Design Bureau of Transport Engineering (as part of the UVZ). It affected almost all systems, as a result of which the maneuverability of the vehicles improved, their firepower and the level of protection increased," the concern reported.
It is noted that the new protection makes it possible to significantly increase the survivability and effectiveness of the use of armored vehicles not only during combined arms combat, but also during combat operations with the massive use of anti-tank weapons.
In addition, as noted in the UVZ, the upgraded T-72B3 are also equipped with a new fire control system, which automates the process of preparing a shot and significantly increases the accuracy of shooting.
"The tank has a forced V-92S2 engine with a capacity of 1,000 hp with a system for automatic control of the parameters of the power plant and automatic regulation of the thermal regime. The engine was developed by specialists of ChTZ-Uraltrak," the UVZ added.
"Today Russia especially needs the help of Uralvagonzavod, our help. Therefore, we work in a special mode. Production volumes have increased, workshops are working around the clock. The team is set up in a fighting way. Everyone understands that this is important and necessary. We will do everything that depends on us!" said Oleg Belousov, senior equipment repairman at the Uralvagonzavod Mechanical assembly Shop.
"An inexpensive way to efficiently saturate the troops with equipment"
According to Igor Korotchenko, the editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine, such modernization makes it possible to give the tanks of old issues a modern look against the background of a special operation.
"Such modernization at least meets expectations and opportunities. Given that the fleet at the storage bases is quite large, this is a relatively inexpensive and fast way to quickly and efficiently saturate the troops with armored vehicles and, in particular, tanks, " he said in an interview with TASS.
The expert suggested that it is much more difficult to increase serial production in such volumes than to modernize the existing UVZ facilities in parallel with it.
"A more modern means of armament"
As Alexey Leonkov, the editor of the Arsenal of the Fatherland, explained in an interview with TASS, the tank receives the possibility of further modernization at the creation stage. "Starting with the T-72, they are subject to modernization: you can change the fire control system, install more accurate, install new active dynamic protection systems, improve the same ammunition - we mean, first of all, armor-piercing feathered sub-caliber projectiles, which in the B3 version are already more promising and capable of piercing thicker armor than the previous ones, - the expert told. "All these things make the tank, after modernization, a more modern means of armament."
Leonkov stressed that design solutions during modernization do not change the main thing - the hull and turret of the tank. According to him, in the process of modernization of the tank, first of all, the protection of the machine is improved. This is necessary so that it can withstand the impact of shells of modern anti-tank complexes, for example, anti-tank missile systems or rocket-propelled anti-tank grenades with a cumulative warhead. At the same time, such means of destruction are being improved over time, so the process of upgrading the tank on the old base is "not endless," Leonkov draws attention.
"Our T-90 has replaced the T-72, and there is a completely different concept for armor, for active dynamic protection," he added.
About the tank
The T-72B3M is an upgraded version of the T-72B3 tank, which received a new aiming system with a digital display, as well as a rear-view television camera. The armor of the combat vehicle is reinforced with on-board screens with dynamic protection modules "Relict". In addition, the tank received a new 125 mm caliber cannon with increased barrel survivability, a new VHF radio station R-168-25U-2 "Aqueduct", new fire-fighting equipment and a multi-channel gunner's sight "Sosna-U".
