The crews of the Mi-35 multi-purpose attack helicopters of the Army Aviation of the Western Military District (ZVO) continue to perform tasks during Russia's special operation to protect Donbass. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation showed footage of helicopters operating at command posts of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).
It is noted that the crews of army aviation helicopters destroy armored vehicles and military infrastructure facilities of the Ukrainian troops, accompany military convoys, deliver troops, military cargo, and also provide aviation support to units. All flights take place at extremely low altitude.
Each sortie is unique. Using intelligence data, crews change routes every time. As a result of regular combat missions, camouflaged command posts and armored vehicles of the AFU units were destroyed.
The Mi-35 is racing at a speed of over 200 km / h at an extremely low altitude to exclude detection by enemy air defenses. The ground is 5-7 m away.
In front of the forest belt, the combat vehicle sharply gains altitude and fires 80-millimeter unguided aircraft missiles. This maneuver is performed specifically for firing unguided aircraft at targets at a great distance.
The department said that every day the crew performs several flights a day. At the same time, the coordinates of new targets may appear already in the air.
"This Mi-35 helicopter can still pick up the wounded, disembark or pick up a reconnaissance group. In addition to shock tasks, it can also perform transport and rescue tasks. Here is its versatility and differences from the Ka-52. Armor, speed and firepower," said Mikhail, the Mi—35 crew commander.
All the main tasks are performed to defeat ground, armored, lightly armored targets, ground objects, enemy manpower. In addition, the helicopter can perform evacuation, the military added.
He stressed that the situation in the SVO zone is tense now. At the same time, the crew of Mi-35 helicopters works without losses thanks to the skill of the pilots. They do the same things they learned on training flights before the special operation. These are anti-shooting, anti-fragmentation, anti-missile maneuvers.
The Defense Ministry added that the Mi-35 work as part of mixed helicopter groups. The Ka-52 Alligator helicopter enters there. At the same time, the Mi-35 remains the main striking force.
While some army aviation crews are just returning from a combat mission, others are already preparing for departure. In the take–off and landing mode, the airfield operates without interruption. Each combat mission is preceded by scrupulous preflight preparation.
