China has replaced Russian AL-31F engines on J-15 fighters. This is written by the publication The Drive.
"Ten years after the Chinese J-15 fighter made its first landings and takeoffs from an aircraft carrier, a sample of a carrier-based combat aircraft equipped with WS—10 engines of its own production appeared," the publication says.
The publication notes that the J-15 was the last Chinese aircraft of the Su-27 family, which received Russian power units. According to The Drive, in this way China is going to further abandon foreign engines in favor of its own.
The publication admits that the new engine was not a newly built fighter, but a previously operated aircraft. "Be that as it may, no combat J-15 has previously been seen with WS-10," writes The Drive.
In November, China at the international Airshow China 2022 in Zhuhai showed several engines with a controlled thrust vector.
In May 2021, the Defense News publication noticed that the fourth-generation J-10C multipurpose fighters equipped with local WS-10B Taihang engines instead of the Russian AL-31F series began to enter service with the People's Liberation Army Air Forces of China.
