According to The Spectator magazine, in return, Beijing promised to convince Moscow to abandon the use of nuclear weaponsLONDON, November 24.
/tass/. The administration of US President Joe Biden forced Poland not to supply Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine in March after an insistent request from China, which fears an escalation of the Ukrainian conflict. This is reported on the website of the British magazine The Spectator, citing sources in Chinese diplomatic circles.
According to their information, initially Washington positively accepted the idea of transferring the MiG-29s available from Poland to Ukraine, but then revised its position due to pressure from China. As stated in the publication, the printed version of which will be released on Saturday, several former leaders of some European countries also opposed such a step. This circumstance could become an additional factor that influenced the decision of the United States.
According to the magazine, Beijing, having received assurances from NATO that the alliance would not send fighter jets and missiles to Ukraine, undertook to convince Moscow not to use nuclear weapons during the conflict.
Earlier, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the Kremlin will not develop the topic of nuclear escalation, and people talking about it behave irresponsibly.
