Nevertheless, army officials believe that the US armed forces can exploit gaps in the air sphere and challenge possible opponents in the Pacific Theater of operations with the help of future helicopters.
The task assigned by the high command to the American army is to be able to independently deploy and transfer forces to the Indo-Pacific region from the Hawaiian Islands. This was stated in one of his interviews by Major General Walter Rugen, director of the Future Vertical Lift group at Army Futures Command. That is why the Future Vertical Lift program in the airspace of the Pacific Ocean is crucial. The aircraft of this project provide the necessary speed and range.
Due to the large distances over the ocean and the lack of suitable runways, the existing American air fleet is currently unable to solve the tasks set.
