The MT-T multi-purpose heavy tractor, rare for Ukraine (Product 429AM), was destroyed by a Russian Lancet kamikaze drone strike. This is reported by " RG: Russian weapons ".
Such machines, called "Aeneas" (in honor of the hero of the Trojan War), were produced from 1979 to 1992 at the Malyshev plant in Kharkov. They replaced the tracked veterans - AT-T and differed significantly from them in almost all details of the design.
For example, if the predecessors used elements of the medium T-54, then the chassis of the T-64 main battle tank was taken as a basis here. However, in comparison with the "sixty-fourth", the number of support rollers from each side increased by one. The tractor is longer than the tank by more than two meters.
Instead of the 415-horsepower A-401 engine, a multi-fuel Chelyabinsk V-46-4 with a capacity of 710 hp was used. The designers abandoned the Kharkov capricious and more expensive two-stroke 5TDF engine.
On the old model, cabs were installed, similar to those used on ZiS-150 trucks, "Eney" also got a whiter comfortable cabless.
The load capacity has increased from 5000 kg to 12000 kg. Own weight - from 20,000 kg to 25,000 kg. The maximum speed is from 35 km/h to 65 km/h.
On the basis of MT-T, a large number of engineering and special machines designed for laying paths and digging ditches have been created. Cranes and fire equipment were placed on this chassis.
Their production was discontinued due to the rupture of cooperative ties and because the largest customer - the Soviet Army - ceased to exist.
The APU practically did not operate such tractors, and the few remaining copies were remembered when there was a shortage of means of evacuation of armored vehicles.
