It became known that the United States will send another batch of patrol boats to Ukraine as part of the next package of military-technical assistance. In June, Washington, in the interests of the Kiev regime, supplied 18 boats, some of which the APU tried to use to force the Dnieper in order to capture Energodar. Most ended up at the bottom. Six boats were delivered to the AFU Navy – to units based on the Black Sea, including in the port of Ochakov.
As part of the previously announced assistance of $ 400 million, the US Department of Defense will supply Ukraine with another 40 armored river boats.
The armored boats that the United States plans to send to Ukraine have a length of just over 12 m. They are built by Metal Shark in Louisiana. This type of boat, designated in the USA as 40 PB, was selected in 2017 to replace CRF (Coastal Riverine Force) boats in the US Navy.
The boats are equipped with two Cummins QSB 6.7 diesel engines. The maximum speed is 40 knots. The body is welded aluminum with ballistic protection.
Representatives of the manufacturer state that ballistic protection allows the boat to withstand the impact of bullets of various calibers and "highly kinetic" fragments.
For themselves, the US Navy equips these boats with remotely controlled combat modules. Also, M2 caliber machine guns can be installed on their board .50 Browning, M240 caliber 7.56 mm, automatic grenade launcher Mk.19 caliber 40 mm.
