The British Army and Navy have tested a new solution that allows military helicopters to exchange important information in combat conditions.

Within the framework of the Tactical data link (TDL) special project, two separate, but complementary? data transmission channel on Wildcat helicopters for more efficient data exchange on the battlefield.

It is reported that this will help the army neutralize targets at speed and increase the effectiveness of Wildcat as a reconnaissance platform, turning British helicopters into a more combat-ready "eye in the sky".

According to Colonel of the 1st Aviation Brigade combat team Oliver Steed, the goal of the project is to connect a reconnaissance helicopter on the battlefield to the Bowman data transmission network, which will allow the exchange of digital information about enemy positions.

He added that the Wildcat helicopter, equipped with a new electronic stuffing, can identify an enemy vehicle or the location of enemy positions and transmit data to its own.

According to the British Army, TDL will complement the set of sensors installed on Wildcat helicopters. This will reduce the dependence on voice communication, which can be error-prone and time-consuming.

This connection can also enhance the helicopter's ability to operate within broader digital networks, providing better protection for air, land and sea assets.

Steed noted that the Wildcat, equipped with TDL, can work together with the UK's newest attack helicopter to significantly enhance the army's attack and reconnaissance capabilities.
