This was announced by the Director General of the International atomic energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi.
Russia was the main supplier of nuclear technology to the world market. In the US, of course, this state of Affairs unhappy. U.S. energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm earlier said that Washington wants to restore the lead. There are some steps in this direction.
Grossi, speaking at the Carnegie endowment in Washington, noted that the US has a solid scientific and technical potential. According to the head of the IAEA, America has real opportunities for the development of civil nuclear energy.
However, Russia, like China, has certain advantages. They are connected with the system of financing Corporation "Rosatom" and the China national nuclear Corporation (CNNC).
As pointed Grossi, a different economic model allows more flexibility to act in the international market. In the end, "Rosatom" has become a key supplier of reactors, and the Chinese company is approaching the position of the United States.
American companies are trying to compete with Russia and China, mastering the same market in Eastern Europe. Grossi said that the United States began to manifest itself in the nuclear industry in countries such as Poland, Romania or the Czech Republic, which previously was active in the French and Russian companies.
However, the arguments of the head of the IAEA about the great prospects of the United States in the nuclear field sound in the overall context of his speech is as soothing as the main Grossi stated – the market leader in Washington is no longer.
