/tass/. The newest small rocket ship (MRK) "Storm" of the project 22800 - the carrier of cruise missiles "Caliber", built at the Leningrad shipbuilding plant "Pella" for the Baltic Fleet, is undergoing factory sea trials at the Baltic sea ranges, the press service of the fleet reported on Monday.
"The crew of the MRC "Storm" together with representatives of the industry checks the operability of the ship's systems and mechanisms at sea. In particular, the operation of the power plant, steering device, auxiliary mechanisms, communication and navigation equipment, anchor device is being checked. Next, high-speed, maneuverable and vibration tests of the ship will be carried out, at the last stages of the tests, a complex of firing at sea and air targets will be carried out," the press service said.
Factory sea trials are one of the mandatory stages that complete the construction process of any ship, and are carried out in order to check its systems and mechanisms for compliance with approved specifications, diagrams, technical descriptions and operating instructions in sea conditions, the press service said.
It is planned that the MRK "Storm", becoming part of the Baltic Fleet, will perform tasks intended for the connection of missile ships and boats of the Baltic naval base of the Baltic Fleet, stationed in the city of Baltiysk, Kaliningrad region.
The Burya MRC is the second project 22800 ship under construction at Pella, which is regularly equipped with the new Pantsir-M anti-aircraft missile and cannon complex developed by the Instrument Engineering Design Bureau JSC.
The multipurpose small rocket ships of the Karakurt project 22800 were developed by the Almaz Central Marine Design Bureau and have been built for the Navy since 2015 at three shipyards - Pelle, Zelenodolsk Shipyard in Tatarstan and Amur Shipyard in Khabarovsk Krai. They are designed to perform tasks in the near sea zone. The ships of this project are armed with a universal ship firing system for eight cells for Kalibr and Onyx cruise missiles, an AK-176MA automatic artillery cannon. In addition, the ship's air defense system includes the Igla and Pantsir-M missile systems.
