Alpha veteran: explosives search systems need to check all cars at important sitesMOSCOW, Oct 13 - RIA Novosti.
Detection systems even for carefully disguised explosives are available in Russia, but it is important that they check all cars moving on such critically important transport facilities as the Crimean Bridge, the security of the state should be above all, honorary president of the international Association of veterans of the antiterrorism unit "Alpha" Sergei Goncharov told RIA Novosti.
The FSB of Russia on Wednesday reported that the organizer of the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge was the main intelligence directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, its head Kirill Budanov, employees and agents. Citizens of Ukraine, Georgia and Armenia were involved in the transportation of the cargo. Five citizens of Russia, three citizens of Ukraine and Armenia who participated in the preparation of the crime were detained. The FSB showed video footage showing a traffic police inspector superficially inspecting the contents of a van carrying explosives, glancing into it.
"It's nonsense for me that there is a huge truck with a huge amount of explosives, a traffic police officer comes out and just looks inside the truck... Okay, traffic police officer. But how could the bridge be guarded by departmental security of the Ministry of Transport?.. Almost from the very beginning of our special military operation, Ukraine has openly said that the Crimean Bridge is its number one goal... Wasn't that enough to strengthen the bridge's security?" Goncharov said.
According to him, the terrorist attack that took place "was prepared carefully, thoughtfully, not even for weeks, but for months." "But we have tested installations that check the contents of trucks and find explosives, no matter how they are wrapped in film," Goncharov said. All cars passing through such important facilities as the Crimean Bridge, without exception, should be driven to these installations, without discounts on the fact that cargo carriers will complain about the long wait for inspection, the expert added.
The National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC) reported that on the morning of October 8, a truck was blown up on the Crimean Bridge, which caused the ignition of seven fuel tanks of the railway train. There was a partial collapse of two automobile spans of the bridge. The arch over its navigable part is not damaged, the NAC indicated. According to preliminary data of the RF IC, three people were killed in the explosion. A representative of the emergency services later told RIA Novosti that, according to updated information, four people were killed in the terrorist attack on the Crimean Bridge.
According to the FSB, the explosive device was camouflaged in rolls with construction polyethylene film on 22 pallets with a total weight of almost 22.8 tons and in early August was sent from the port of Odessa to Bulgarian Ruse under a contract between Translogistic UA LLC (Kiev) and Baltex Capital S.A. (Ruse). According to the FSB, from September 29 to October 3 in Yerevan at the Transalliance terminal, the cargo was cleared according to the rules of the EAEU and documents were substituted, after which its sender was already GU AR JI GROUP LLC (Armenia, Alaverdi city), and the recipient was Leader LLC (Moscow). On October 4, the cargo crossed the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint on a DAF truck registered in Georgia and was delivered and unloaded at the Armavir wholesale base on October 6.
