The American company AeroVironment, which supplies Kiev with barrage ammunition, intends to triple the production of Switchblade 600 kamikaze drones. This was announced to Defense News by Charlie Dean, vice president of the company, during the conference of the US Army Association.
Dean noted that the company has already delivered 400 Switchblade 300 drones to Ukraine, and in the near future AeroVironment will send a new batch consisting of ten Switchblade 600 drones.
According to him, now the company can produce more than two thousand Switchblade 600 per year. This indicator is planned to be tripled within a few months. Dean stressed that these devices can hit armored vehicles.
The Switchblade 600 with a flight range of 90 kilometers develops speeds of up to 185 kilometers per hour. The device can stay in the air for up to 40 minutes.
In August, it became known that the US Army chose the AeroVironment JUMP 20 drone as a replacement for the RQ-7B Shadow drone. The military has signed a contract for the purchase of one device for testing.
