The Iranian Space Agency, together with the Aerospace Industry Organization of the Ministry of Defense of the country, conducted a test launch of the interorbital tugboat "Saman". This is reported by the IRNA agency.
The trial system was successfully launched and tested. "Saman" will allow moving spacecraft from one orbit to another. It is noted that the performance of the tug subsystems was checked in conditions close to space. The system also carried a suborbital space probe.
The Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies of the country stated that the technologies involved in the development of the tugboat are available to only a small number of countries.
In September, it became known that Iran is working on the creation of the Ayat satellite, which will be able to predict earthquakes, floods and landslides.
In August, the Soyuz-2.1b rocket launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome with the Khayyam remote sensing satellite created for Iran.
