On Saturday, October 1, as part of a working visit to Naberezhnye Chelny, KAMAZ was visited by the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov. In the presence of the Head of Tatarstan, the company's Scientific and Technical Center hosted the opening of a testing ground for new cars and the signing of a trilateral partnership agreement between KAMAZ PJSC, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University.Among the guests are also Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Albert Karimov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan – Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko, Rector of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University Lenar Safin and other leaders.
The members of the delegation were accompanied by Sergey Kogogin, General Director of the company, Zhanna Khaliullina, Deputy General Director of the company for Personnel Management, Organizational Development and Corporate Governance, and Irek Gumerov, Deputy General Director of the company – Director of Development.
The research site is organized on the territory adjacent to the Scientific and Technical Center of KAMAZ, and is intended for testing all newly developed KAMAZ vehicles for controllability and stability, for brake tests, reliability tests, external noise tests, settings of electronic control systems, automated systems, robotic cars. The length of the site is 770 m, the total area is 16 hectares, the project cost was 1 billion rubles.
"Our company conducts a large amount of development, and everything we need to test cars before the implementation of this project was not in Naberezhnye Chelny, but in the city of Dmitrov near Moscow. This is a very big waste of time. With the construction of this landfill, we transferred 80% of the certification testing work on cars to Naberezhnye Chelny. The main factor here is time and convenience for our employees. Now test drivers will live at home, stay in Naberezhnye Chelny, and not on business trips. The speed of work will be reduced by the volume of transport logistics – it's two days to Moscow and two days back," commented Sergey Kogogin, CEO of KAMAZ PJSC.
The implementation of the project began in the summer of 2021. Over a year, more than ten structures have been organized at the new site. The main road is a lane for the acceleration of motor vehicles, which is a road with a length of 770 m, a width of 16 m with four lanes. A dynamic platform with a diameter of 120 m with artificial irrigation for vehicle handling tests, a road with variable irregularities with a width of 4 m for measuring cars and a road with a smooth paving pavement with a width of 4 m for assessing the vibration load of cars and resource tests are also organized. A special route with a cobblestone road and a track with replaceable irregularities, a complex of ascents of various steepness and other objects are provided for the control.
To test ADAS systems, a 12-meter-wide asphalt-concrete road with three traffic lanes, a tunnel with artificial lighting to adjust the auto light was created. A 235×106 m platform has also been built – an imitation of a city with mock-ups of buildings, intersections and traffic lights, which allows you to analyze how a robotic car behaves in real conditions.
KAMAZ will be able to conduct 80% of the tests at this research site. The company's traditional sites will also operate for various special testing in the Moscow and Astrakhan regions, in the Crimea, in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug. Part of the tests that require the development of a high-speed car will continue to be carried out at the training ground by US in Dmitrov, near Moscow.
The Shuttle project, a public transportation service on demand, was also presented to Rustam Minnikhanov at the landfill. The project is based on adaptive transport that meets various passenger requirements. The bus can change the route on the move, depending on new orders that appear, collect passengers "on the way", choose any point in the service area as a stop. Rustam Minnikhanov positively assessed the new service. He stressed that everything that works for the benefit of our citizens and is in demand by them should be tried and put into use.
In addition, the Head of the Republic of Tatarstan was presented with new models of the company – an especially large-capacity electric bus KAMAZ-6292, a four-wheel drive bus KAMAZ-6250, a dump truck KAMAZ-6559 "Jupiter 30", as well as KAMAZ-6561 "Hercules", the driving qualities of which Rustam Minnikhanov personally appreciated, sitting behind the wheel.
Also at the site of the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center, in the presence of Rustam Minnikhanov, a trilateral partnership agreement was signed in the creation of a new type of engineering training, the implementation of breakthrough developments and research aimed at solving problems corresponding to the world level of relevance and significance in priority areas of technological development of the Russian Federation. The document was signed by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan - Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan Oleg Korobchenko, Rector of Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University Lenar Safin and CEO of KAMAZ Sergey Kogogin.
