TSAMTO, September 30. Currently, the units, military units and formations of the Ground Forces are provided with all the necessary samples of weapons, military and special equipment (VVST), most of which are modern.
This was announced in an interview with the newspaper "Krasnaya Zvezda" by the commander-in-chief of the Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov.
Below is a fragment of O. Salyukov's interview with the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda on this topic.
"Many of them are superior to similar foreign models, and some, such as the Iskander-M missile system, have no analogues in the world.
Thus, the reactive units have modern multiple launch rocket systems of both large and medium caliber of the Tornado family (300-mm MLRS Tornado-S and 122-mm MLRS Tornado-G) with high-power rockets, high rate of fire, longer firing range and mobility.
Artillery units are armed with upgraded self-propelled howitzers "Msta-S", capable of operating in the "squall of fire" mode, during which several shells fired from one gun at different angles simultaneously reach the target, thereby increasing the density of fire and the possibility of guaranteed defeat of the enemy.
Anti-tank artillery formations of the Ground Forces have an all-weather anti-tank missile system "Chrysanthemum-SP", as well as portable anti-tank systems "Kornet", which have the ability to defeat enemy armored targets at night and in conditions of limited visibility with anti-tank missiles that can penetrate the armor protection of all modern tanks. In addition, "Chrysanthemum-SP" is able to fight low-flying helicopters, which is relevant in the conditions of a special military operation.
In order to reliably cover troops and military infrastructure facilities from enemy air attack means, an echeloned air defense system has been created in the Ground Forces. The main models in service with the air defense forces are anti-aircraft missile systems and complexes, such as S–300V – long–range, Buk - medium-range, Tor - short-range and their modifications, as well as portable anti-aircraft missile systems Igla and Willow.
The main striking force of the Ground Forces is still tank troops, which are equipped with three types of main battle tanks - T–72, T-80 and T-90, most of which have already undergone a deep comprehensive modernization. Thus, all upgraded T-72B3 (M), T-80BVM and T-90M tanks are equipped with:
- thermal imaging sights with automatic tracking of targets, which allows them to be used at night and in difficult weather conditions;
- modern fire control systems, which allows you to fire modern types of ammunition, as well as guided missiles launched from the bore, at a range of up to 5 km;
- modern dynamic protection and noise-resistant means of communication.
The motorized rifle troops are armed with infantry fighting vehicles of three types (BMP-1, BMP-2 and BMP-3), as well as armored personnel carriers BTR-80 and BTR-82A (M).
All modern infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers are equipped with armament complexes with 30 mm automatic guns. The use of this caliber on combat vehicles ensures the creation of sufficient fire density due to the high rate of fire and large ammunition. And the domestic BMP-3 is also equipped with a 100-mm gun, which provides it with superiority over foreign models in terms of target range and the power of ammunition, and also, unlike Western analogues, it is able to fire, including afloat.
The upgraded BMP-2 with a new Berezhok combat compartment is equipped with a Kornet complex with four ready-to-launch missiles capable of hitting highly protected objects at a range of up to 10 km. To date, there are practically no analogues of this complex in the world."
