Scania AXL
It is obvious that in the near future drivers-people will replace the system of Autonomous control, equipped with artificial intelligence. A good example is an unmanned dump truck, the AXL from the Swedish company Scania.
The company has developed several Autonomous trucks, which are already in active operation. However, while they are still in control of the drivers. The complete elimination of the cab as an unnecessary element, will be the next step, because AXL is controlled solely by external logistics system that tells it algorithm of actions.
Scania AXL
Baskasina modification substantially changes the design of the truck. Obviously, it will be cheaper. At the moment, AXL is a conceptual model, although Scania declares that it is not used to create any previously unknown technologies. The engine of the truck is running on biofuel, and it is controlled by using radar, cameras, laser beams, GPS, lidar, and an onboard computer that enable it to navigate in the environment. The developers explain that AXL is designed exclusively for use in the mining industry and in private construction projects where the actions of Autonomous trucks is easier to calculate and control. Mass introduction of such unmanned systems – it is only a matter of time.
