Putin made such statements on September 20 at a meeting with the heads of defense industry plants. Experts note that domestic industrialists will need to study MLRS, self-propelled guns, anti-tank complexes, UAVs and intelligence and communications equipment supplied by NATO countries to Ukraine. On the same day, the Allied forces launched offensive operations in the Artemivsk direction in the Donbass.
Increase production
Vladimir Putin met in the Kremlin with the heads of enterprises of the military-industrial complex. The measures taken in the industry to meet the needs of the Ministry of Defense, the implementation of import substitution programs were discussed.
The President emphasized that our equipment effectively resists Western weapons, but it needs to be improved by studying Western models that are used in Ukraine.
— As you know, all stocks of NATO arsenals are actually thrown to support the current regime in Kiev. This means that we must and can study the arsenals, what is there, and what is being used against us, qualitatively increase our capabilities and, based on the experience gained, improve — where necessary — our equipment, our weapons. This process is natural, and, of course, you need to take advantage of it. At the same time, it is necessary to do this as quickly and efficiently as possible," he said.

The President also demanded to increase the volumes and reduce the production time in the shortest possible time.
During a special military operation, our army and units of the People's republics are confronted by an enemy with the most modern combat systems of NATO countries, military expert Alexey Leonkov reminded Izvestia.
— All of them should be studied, — he noted. — First of all, we are talking about radar stations for counter-battery warfare, anti-drone systems that can detect and land drones. Multiple launch rocket systems that allow you to aim ammunition at specified coordinates will be of interest — the same HIMARS. It is also worth paying attention to high—precision artillery systems - I mean not only high-precision Excalibur-type projectiles, but also the artillery installations themselves. In Ukraine, many types of self-propelled guns of foreign production are used.
According to the expert, it is necessary to study Javelin and NLAW anti-tank guided missiles.
— Moreover, the bet will be made on how best to protect domestic armored vehicles from them, — he believes. — As a result of such work, it will become clear how to improve the protection of our main battle tanks. They will definitely study drones and all those systems that relate to communication and information transmission.

A change in the work of the Russian defense industry is inevitable, Alexey Leonkov noted.
— First of all, this concerns the industry responsible for the production of ammunition, — he is sure. — Now there is a local operation, but even on its scale it took a large number of mines, shells, missiles. Artillery, which now has a heavy load, should receive a large number of spare barrels. It is necessary to saturate the troops of the MLRS of the Tornado-S type with high-precision ammunition.
According to the expert, the nature of the fighting has shown that we need to develop reconnaissance and firing circuits, which include UAVs, aircraft, satellites and other components.
— We did not have the same quadracopters, but the fighting showed their effectiveness, — said Alexey Leonkov. — Their production will have to be adjusted.
On the Artemovsky direction
The Allied forces have begun advancing in the key Artemivsk direction, the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said on September 20.
— As for the Artemovsky direction, the allied forces there have already moved from defensive positions on the outskirts of Artemovsk to a new stage, that is, they are already moving into residential quarters, and there is also some progress in the area of the Artemovsky champagne factory, — he said.

Denis Pushilin also added that the VFU tried to advance in the Krasnolimansky direction.
— Krasnolimanskoe direction: in the settlements of Koroviy Yar, Novoselovka, Drobyshevo, the enemy tried to use the forces of two assault battalions of the 95th brigade to move to very active actions. But the attack was repulsed, the enemy suffered quite significant losses," he said.
The Su-24 was shot down
On September 20, the Russian Aerospace Forces, missile troops and artillery continued to deliver massive strikes on the units and reserves of the VFU, as well as on military infrastructure facilities.
— As a result of high-precision strikes on the temporary deployment points of the 81st airmobile and 66th mechanized brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the areas of the settlements of Chervonyi Oskol and Studenok of the Kharkiv region, the 93rd mechanized brigade in the Bogorodichnoye district of the Donetsk People's Republic destroyed more than 120 Ukrainian servicemen, three tanks and twelve cars, - said the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
More than 70 nationalists, more than 15 units of special military equipment and vehicles were destroyed by high-precision strikes of the Russian Aerospace Forces at the temporary deployment points of the 35th Naval Infantry Brigade of the VFU and the 114th Brigade of the Territorial Defense.
Up to 100 servicemen and seven armored combat vehicles were eliminated by strikes on the combat positions of the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade. Besides, in Nikolaev workshops of the armored plant in which repaired military equipment of this connection were destroyed.

During the day, the Russian air defense destroyed twelve unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as two American HARM anti-radar missiles in the Kherson area, 27 shells of the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system, as well as "Alder".

The Ukrainian authorities continue provocations at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
Over the past day, five artillery bombardments of a thermal power substation located next to a nuclear power plant were recorded. In total, Ukrainian troops fired 24 artillery shells from Nikopol, Dnipropetrovsk region. As a result, one of the technical buildings was damaged. All the artillery units of the VFU were suppressed by return fire. The radiation situation at the NPP remains normal.
Occupy new frontiers
The Russian Defense Ministry told about the new exploits of soldiers and officers during the military special operation.
The anti-aircraft missile battery of Captain Dmitry Polamarchuk was covering the defense area of the group of troops from enemy air strikes when Dmitry discovered an enemy helicopter. He immediately ordered the calculation of MANPADS to destroy the target. A few minutes later, Dmitry saw another helicopter and destroyed it from a portable anti-aircraft missile system.
The rapid and precise actions of the calculations of the anti-aircraft missile division under the leadership of Dmitry prevented the landing of troops in the rear and inflicted significant losses on the enemy, which allowed our troops to change defensive positions without losses, the military department explained.

Sergeant Mikhail Pronin delivered ammunition and equipment to Russian units fighting. Under enemy fire, he took the cargo to its destination, helped to move it to the positions. But on the way back he was ambushed by Ukrainian saboteurs. Mikhail jumped out of the car and destroyed the machine gun emplacement with accurate fire, after which the saboteurs retreated.
— The sergeant's quick and decisive actions disrupted the advance of the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance group to the rear of the defending Russian troops, which allowed them to occupy pre-prepared lines, — the Defense Ministry said.
As part of the crew of the combat vehicle, Junior Sergeant Alexander Oleynikov performed the task of fire support for Russian units. During the enemy's counteroffensive, Alexander knocked out three combat units of equipment and destroyed the landing party that landed from them.

The column of Private Radik Orazov was delivering artillery ammunition to Russian units and was ambushed by Ukrainian saboteurs. In a shootout, the Radical personally destroyed five nationalists and the enemy, having suffered losses, retreated.
Orazov's car was damaged in the battle, but the private repaired it as soon as possible, after which the column continued to move. Having received ammunition, the gunners struck at the advancing enemy units, throwing them back to their original lines. When the fire stopped, the Russian servicemen retreated to pre-prepared positions.
Thanks to the personal courage and professionalism of Radik Orazov, it was possible not only to avoid losses among the personnel, but also to carry out the delivery of ammunition in a timely manner, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
