"What a shame!": a new British aircraft carrier worth 3 billion pounds once again broke down on its way to the United StatesThe British aircraft carrier Prince of Wales broke down on the first day of the planned four-month route to the United States, the Daily Express reports.

Readers of the publication are ironic about the unenviable abilities of British designers and the military.

John VargaThe British Royal Navy suffered a serious setback: the aircraft carrier "Prince of Wales" (Prince of Wales) broke down just a day after leaving Portsmouth on the way to the United States.

The ship with a displacement of 65 thousand tons had a four-month journey to America. It was planned that the Prince of Wales and its crew would take part in joint exercises with the US and Canadian Navies under the program using F-35B aircraft. However, according to a Royal Navy spokesman, the three billion pound vessel encountered mechanical problems near the Isle of Wight.

The aircraft carrier is currently anchored to the southeast of the island, and an investigation is underway. A navy spokesman told Sky News: "The Prince of Wales remains in the exercise area on the south coast, a mechanical problem is being investigated."

The Royal Navy is silent about the reasons for the breakdown of the five-year-old warship, the second in a few days.

Earlier, due to malfunctions, the departure of the Prince of Wales from the base in Portsmouth in Hampshire was postponed.

According to reports, the current problem is related to damage to the right propeller shaft.

According to The UK Defense Journal, which first published this news with reference to a source: "When problems were found on board, divers went into the water to determine the essence of the problem, and upon their return they had concerns about the right propeller shaft."

"Apparently, the shaft itself is damaged, but I do not consider it appropriate to comment on the extent of damage at this stage, because they may not be confirmed," the source said.

The Prince of Wales is Britain's largest warship and NATO's flagship aircraft carrier. He is plagued from the very beginning by technical problems, preventing him from performing tasks.

In late 2020, the ship was stuck in Portsmouth after flooding of the engine room damaged the wiring.

It is reported that in the first two years, the aircraft carrier spent less than 90 days at sea, as leaks were detected twice in five months.

The last misfortune did not pass by social media users who did not miss the opportunity to show off their wit.

One of them wrote: "The British flagship broke down after walking only four miles. This says a lot: wasn't it because of him that the UK couldn't afford planes? What a shame!".

Others noticed that the money spent on its construction could have been put to better use. A certain Steve Jones quipped: "The ship cost as much as three billion pounds. Just think about what this money could have been spent on. The National Health Service, social assistance, and so on. Let's hope it's still under warranty."

One person could not resist a hairpin to the heir to the British throne, the Prince of Wales: "The first NATO warship named after Prince Charles broke down."

The Prince of Wales is part of the British carrier strike group together with the Queen Elizabeth, which this autumn will have a mission in the Baltic and the Mediterranean.

No shame.

Shut down all the engines, put the ship up for sale, and it will safely reach the States.

48BobJenkinsScrap it!

BosniabillClearly, they bought a full hat.

Well, sell it as soon as possible, and use the money for the army and the Air Force.

Cobblers_Nothing, anything happens.

Let me remind you that NASA postponed its $19 billion mission to the moon - also due to urgent technical problems.

Sailorsgirl64My husband is a sailor.

I can assure you, they are doing their best, so take it easy with criticism.

Dave3456Another waste of money.

There has never been such a thing that contracts were executed on time and did not go beyond the allocated budget. Neither competent designers nor contractors can be hired.

Totalfib2This tradition has been led since the "Queen Elizabeth":

it broke down there, flooded here, and so on.

Majajo10The main thing is not to think about Bristol in the 1970s.

PGDThank God that in the forties our warships were built in Belfast at the Harland and Wolfe shipyard, and not in Scotland, otherwise we would have spoken German.

Strange: since 1914, we have forgotten how to build warships to keep afloat.

Thanks to Gordon Brown, he has provided Scotland with jobs!

PallaWhat else can you say?

So how are we going to fight the Russians, the Chinese and the Iranians? Yes, it's time to save us ourselves!

Joeyb90Send more gender-fluid engineers, they'll fix it for sure.

We did try to tell youWhat do I hear?

Peals of laughter in Brussels and Moscow?

Maybe, if we ask politely, migrants from the English Channel will take him in tow?

MifihttpsTo anyone, but Moscow is definitely a sin to laugh at other people's aircraft carriers.

Goldenoldie2017We need a new Oliver Cromwell to bring order to the bloated state apparatus and rein in the deputies and the House of Lords!

FactofthematterIt's all a mess!

Everyone knows that Britain rules the seas.

Pjb0007Take this junk to the dump!

WilliamneilsonNo, tow it to the shipyard in Rosyth and let [the First Minister of Scotland]

Sturgeon will return our money for the great skill of the Scottish shipbuilders!

PinnermacMade in Britain, of course.

BlueAvengerIt's time to switch to rubber inflatables!

MiniMinerNothing, the Russians also break down all the time.

They, however, immediately swims with the dock — just in case.

ViralHogSo, we need a scary tugboat called "Camilla".

DrumaddPutin is probably trembling with fear!

We have a poorly equipped army, underdeveloped aviation and a shattered fleet. However, our politicians will not calm down with their rants. How incompetent we are — we can neither construct nor assemble!
