/tass/. Norway has agreed with the UK to supply Ukraine with Black Hornet micro-drones free of charge, the delivery amount will be more than $ 9 million. This was announced on Wednesday by the Norwegian Ministry of Defense.
"Norway and the UK have joined forces to purchase Norwegian Black Hornet micro-drones as part of a donation to Ukraine. The cost [of delivery] will be up to 90 million Norwegian kroner (about $9.2 million - approx. TASS)," the ministry said in a statement published on the website of the Norwegian government.
In addition to microdrons, the parties will supply Kiev with spare parts for them, as well as provide transportation of these devices and train specialists. Financing will be provided through the British fund, in which Norway has invested more than $41.1 million (400 million Norwegian kroner). According to the agency, drones of this type were requested by the Ukrainian authorities "to combat the Russian invasion."
Micro-drones will be purchased from Teledyne Flir. The Norwegian Ministry of Defense notes that Black Hornet microdrons are used both in the USA and in the UK. Such drones help to conduct reconnaissance and detect targets. According to Norwegian Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram, such devices are easy to operate, but difficult to detect. They are particularly well suited for operations in an urban environment.
The weight of the Black Hornet micro-drone, according to information published on the company's website, is less than 33 grams. Such a drone is equipped with two cameras that allow you to take video. The device is capable of reaching speeds of up to 6 m/s and can stay in the air for up to 25 minutes.
The Norwegian Ministry of Defense also indicates that Ukraine will also receive a system of protection against enemy drones called Nightfighter. About 100 million Norwegian kroner from the fund (approximately $10 million) has been allocated for the purchase of this system from the fund.
