The growth of the military-political tensions in the Asia-Pacific region implies the need to strengthen the military potential of Japan. This writes the Polish edition Defence24.

According to the publication, Japan will accelerate the work on the creation of cruise missiles, medium and long range. Missile gap, which is described by Defence24, exist for political and historical reasons. For a long time in the Asia-Pacific region, the role of the main guarantor of security of Japan was the American armed forces. But now the situation is changing. The US can no longer stand alone against all the risk factors and in Eastern Europe, and East Asia.

According to the Polish press, the Japanese government should consider creating more than a thousand cruise missiles of average range. They can be placed in areas where it is easier to deter possible shocks from China and North Korea. Now the Japanese government wants to strengthen its missile capabilities to defeat surface and ground targets of the enemy. To introduce new weapons are planned in 2024.

The development of anti-ship missiles Type 12 (Mitsubishi Heavy Industries) shows the desire of Japan primarily to enhance already standing armed Forces-defence missile systems. One of the key challenges in this context is the increase in range of the missile to more than 1 thousand kilometers. In addition, we plan to make rockets less vulnerable to anti-missile systems. Japanese authorities want to place missiles not only on wheeled platforms, but also on airplanes, and ships.

Recently in Tokyo are increasingly discussing the possibility of creating an effective missile defense system, including the ability to hit the launcher of the enemy. The emergence of China's hypersonic missiles confronts Japan, the task of creating such a missile system that could affect battery enemy preemptively, before the start of hypersonic missiles.

Polish the publication believes that Japan has the technological and economic potential which allows to implement new solutions in the field of missile defense. Moreover, Tokyo is expected to receive in the direction of help from US, UK and Australia who are also interested in creating a significant contrast to China, the DPRK and Russia in East Asia.
