Beijing. August 21. INTERFAX - The Maritime Security Administration of the People's Republic of China has warned about the prohibition of navigation in a number of areas of the East China Sea in connection with live firing in them."The Maritime Security Administration of Zhejiang Province has issued a navigation warning.
From 2:00 to 16:00 on August 22, live firing will be conducted in some areas of the East China Sea, navigation is prohibited," the ministry's website says.
China has stepped up military exercises with live firing and missile launches during and after the visit to Taiwan by the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi on August 2-3 this year.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry said the visit was a gross violation of China's sovereignty and territorial integrity, promising to take "decisive, powerful and effective" measures. Then China conducted the largest military exercises in six zones around Taiwan.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi warned that Washington could use tensions in the Taiwan Strait as a result of Pelosi's visit to build up its military presence in the region.
"This is not only a blatant and unjustified provocation, but also a political farce doomed to failure. The current situation in the Taiwan Strait is still unsettled. We remain vigilant because the United States may take advantage of this problem and increase its military presence in an attempt to create an even more serious crisis," Wang Yi told reporters.
At the same time, U.S. Ambassador to China Nicholas Burns called incorrect statements that the recent visit of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan caused a crisis in U.S.-Chinese relations.
"We do not believe that a crisis should arise in US-Chinese relations because of the visit - a peaceful visit - of the Speaker of the House of Representatives to Taiwan," he told CNN from the US Embassy in Beijing.
According to him, "it was a crisis fabricated by the Beijing government, it was an overreaction."
The diplomat noted that now "the government here in Beijing is obliged to convince the rest of the world that it will act peacefully in the future."
