The production of patrol boats of the project 03160 of the Raptor type began at the Leningrad Shipbuilding Plant "Pella" according to its own project eight years ago. Since then, almost two dozen boats have been transferred to the Navy. Raptors were built for patrol duty, delivery and landing of groups of marines, interception and detention of small targets, as well as participation in search and rescue operations. According to the builder, the boats have performed well in operation, including in comparison with domestic and foreign analogues.

However, the new operating conditions of the boats that developed in 2022 led the developers to the need to make changes to the design, strengthen the protection and combat power of the boat. In addition, there was a need to replace some equipment. The updated Raptor 2.0 became the central element of the open exposition of the Navy cluster at the Army Forum.

If earlier the 03160 project was positioned as a patrol boat, now it is a multifunctional attack boat. You can say, "APC on the water."

Compared to its predecessor, the Raptor 2.0 has increased displacement (from 28 tons to 30 tons), as well as length (from 16.9 m to 20 m). At the same time, the designers of Pella maintained a high maximum speed (from 50 knots it decreased slightly to 48 knots). The main power plant will now use two Russian [apparently Chinese] CHD engines with a total capacity of 1,678 kW. The engines of the updated Raptor will also be Russian water cannons VD370.

To increase the combat capabilities of the boat, the designers propose to equip the Raptor 2.0 with a more powerful weapon system. It will include: a ship-based remote-controlled module, two guided missile launchers, a laser radiation detection system and passive jamming.

It is also proposed to use an active protection complex with protective shots, a smoke screen system, an optical-electronic sighting module, a central computer system and an automated operator workplace.

The computing system allows for the targeting of detected targets between the machine gun module and the guided missile module, control of the optical system, guidance of guided missile installations, information exchange between the elements of the complex.

The main strike armament of the Raptor 2.0 will be guided missiles with a semi-active laser homing head with a range of up to 8 km. Such missiles are designed for use from unmanned aerial vehicles and are at the stage of preliminary tests. The guided missile launcher is a gyrostabilized rotary device that allows launching on a swinging base.

The laser radiation detection and passive interference system is designed to protect against melee weapons with optoelectronic sights and guidance systems operating in the infrared range.

The designers of Pella have developed the Raptor 2.0 project taking into account the full localization of production. The main elements of the weapons complex are made on the basis of technical solutions and samples for other branches of the armed forces. The construction of new Raptors in the quantity required for the customer is proposed to be carried out at the facilities of Pella JSC.
