TSAMTO, August 17. The Rostec United Engine Corporation has completed the completion of the NK-32 02 series engines of the fifth board of the Tu-160M strategic bomber, which is in service with the long-range aviation of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
The next batch of upgraded NK-32 engines of the 02 series was shipped on August 12 by the Samara enterprise ODK-Kuznetsov to PJSC Tupolev for installation on the Tu-160M strategic missile carrier. The aircraft became the fifth board equipped with new NK-32 02 series engines with improved performance. The new engine made it possible to significantly increase the range of the Tu-160M.
"The production of the new NK-32 series 02 served as an impetus for the transformation of UEC-Kuznetsov," said Alexey Sobolev, Managing Director of PJSC UEC–Kuznetsov. – Over the past three years, we have introduced 6 production facilities, we are completing construction work and installation of equipment at 5 more new and reconstructed production facilities, 7 new production buildings and facilities are under construction, including a new design bureau building, a unique testing complex, metallurgical production and a machining workshop, which will form the basis of the center for large-scale heat-resistant parts of the UEC. The investment program of PJSC "UEC-Kuznetsov" is about 40 billion rubles. Investments and restoration of competencies not only allowed us to solve the problems of mastering the production of NK-32 engines of the 02 series, but also to create the necessary groundwork for performing new tasks, such as creating an engine for the PAK DA and ensuring the readiness of the enterprise to participate in the modernization of the Tu-22M3 aircraft in terms of the supply of new engines."
Deliveries of NK-32 series 02 turbojet twin-circuit three-shaft aircraft engines under government contracts with PJSC Tupolev and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation began in 2020. The NK-32 02 series is the main engine in the range of new products of UEC-Kuznetsov, where work is also continuing on prototypes of the PAK DA engine – a promising engine that will be produced at the Samara enterprise after the completion of the development stage.
The NK-32 Series 02 turbojet twin-circuit three-shaft aircraft engine is designed for use on the upgraded Tu-160M supersonic bomber. The NK-32 engine of the 02 series has implemented measures to improve the reliability of the product and the manufacturability of the design in accordance with the requirements of serial production. As part of the measures for the manufacture of the NK-32 engine of the 02 series, import substitution works have been completed at PJSC UEC-Kuznetsov.
Large-scale reconstruction and technical re-equipment of the enterprise continues. Test stands have already been reconstructed, gear and compressor production housings, tool and electroplating production have been put into operation. A new building of welding production and a Central factory laboratory is being prepared for the opening. Work continues on the development of the testing complex of the enterprise, the modernization of metallurgical and machining production is underway.
