The International Military-Technical Forum "Army" is an exhibition event organized by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation to demonstrate innovative ideas and achievements in the field of high–tech production.
The objectives of the forum are to promote technical re–equipment and increase the efficiency of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation; to stimulate the innovative development of the Russian defense industry complex, the activities of young promising specialists of research organizations of the Ministry of Defense of Russia and the Defense Industry; the development of military-technical cooperation of the Russian Federation with foreign states; patriotic education of citizens; the formation of a positive image of the Ministry of Defense of Russia as a modern and dynamically developing structures and popularization of service in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.
The Forum is a basic platform for demonstrating the best achievements of scientific and technical thought embodied in modern and promising models of intelligent weapons, military equipment and technologies, in projects in the field of construction and logistics, as well as for enterprises ready to act in the line of cooperation of various levels in the interests of the military-industrial complex.
The Forum has become an authoritative discussion platform and plays an important role in bringing civil society and the army closer together, raising the authority of the Armed Forces, educating young people to be proud of their country, and strengthening interstate ties in the field of defense.
The forum provides for a static exhibition, demonstration and scientific and business programs, as well as protocol and cultural and artistic events.
For the first time, the Army Forum was held in June 2015. The military-patriotic park of culture and recreation "Patriot" with an area of 5.4 thousand hectares was specially built for the exhibition event in Kubinka near Moscow.
In 2021, the International Military-Technical Forum "Army" was held from August 22 to 28.
The forum was attended by representatives of 117 foreign countries who sent their official military delegations, of which 36 were high-level. The total number of representatives of foreign military departments exceeded 500 people. 87 bilateral meetings were held, 37 of which were with foreign partners through the Russian Defense Ministry, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Federal Service for Military–Technical Cooperation, and another 50 meetings were held through Rosoboronexport.
The forum's events were attended by more than 1.7 million people.
The exhibition featured 60 foreign companies and organizations from 12 countries (Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Latvia, the Netherlands, Pakistan, France, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Turkey). Four foreign countries (Belarus, Kazakhstan, India, Pakistan) presented national exhibitions.
In total, 1,489 enterprises and organizations took part in the exhibition exposition of the forum, which presented over 28 thousand samples and technologies of military and dual-use.
Demonstration flights were conducted at Kubinka airfield with demonstration of maneuverability capabilities of Su-57, MiG-35s, Yak-130 aircraft, performances of aerobatic groups "Russian Knights", "Golden Eagles", "First Flight", single aerobatics on the L-410 UPV-E20 aircraft, Mi-28n helicopters, Ka-52, as well as air battles of Piper-Cab and Yak-52 aircraft.
At the Army-2021 forum, the Russian Defense Ministry concluded more than 40 state contracts with 27 enterprises of the military-industrial complex in the amount of over 500 billion rubles.
The Army-2021 Forum, as in 2020, was held simultaneously with the Army International Games.
In 2022, the International Military-Technical Forum "Army" will be held from August 15 to 21 in Kubinka near Moscow. It is expected that more than one and a half thousand Russian and foreign participants will visit it.
The forum's events will be held on the basis of the Patriot Convention and Exhibition Center, Patriot Park, the Alabino training ground and Kubinka airfield, as well as in all military districts and the Northern Fleet.
The forum will be attended by companies and organizations from Russia, Belarus, China, Turkey, Thailand, India and Iran.
Within the framework of the scientific and business program of the forum, it is planned to hold more than 260 events on priority issues of the development of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the military-industrial complex of Russia and international military-technical cooperation, which have become particularly relevant in the light of current world events.
The dominant topics on the agenda of business events will be the development of artificial intelligence technologies, as well as new solutions in the field of diversification of the Russian defense industry.
