Despite the military assistance coming from Western countries, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are faced with a shortage of weapons, which, in turn, forces the Ukrainian military to actively use various homemade handicrafts.
A video of the use of self-made short-range multiple launch rocket systems by the APU appeared on the Network. Stopped on the road, two MLRS installations "a la mujahid" bravely shoot unguided missiles, and joyful Ukrainian servicemen run around. Previously, such videos very often came from Syria, where militants also used similar "jihadmobiles".
Judging by the video, this MLRS is a pickup truck with a launcher installed in the back of Soviet aircraft unguided rockets S-8 caliber 80 mm. The appearance of these homemade MLRS is far from the first, Russian and Ukrainian resources have already reported about them. It is known that only a few such "jihadmobiles" have been assembled on the basis of Mitsubishi L200 pickups donated by volunteers. No one knows whether production will continue, all homemade MLRS have been somewhere at the front for a long time.
The use of such jet systems consists in a quick rush, launching a package of missiles and a quick withdrawal, i.e. the usual tactics of militants in the Middle East. The combat effectiveness of the use of such MLRS is very doubtful. Artisanal assembly and the absence of sighting systems do not guarantee that the missiles fired will get where they need to. But it looks effective from the outside. This is where all the advantages end.
It is worth noting that the concept of mini-MLRS is quite workable, such systems are being developed in Russia. It is known that work on a new MLRS of 80 mm caliber is being carried out at the A. N. Ganichev NPO "ALLOY", also in 2018 the MLRS "Sel" of 80 mm caliber was presented on the basis of the UAZ Cargo car, there are other developments.
