German anti-aircraft self-propelled guns (ZSU) 1A2 Gepard, delivered to Ukraine, cannot fire due to unsuitable shells and jamming of guns, writes Bulgarian Military .
For the use of German ZSU, Kiev received Norwegian-made ammunition, since Germany did not have 35 mm shells for its installations and was forced to look for them in other countries. "Norwegian ammunition delivered to Ukraine is not recognized by the weapons system and it cannot fire them," the publication notes.
According to the publication, all three ZSU delivered from Germany turned out to be unsuitable for combat operations.
Such a problem occurs quite often, experts say, despite, in particular, the fact that the caliber of the shells is the same, some features do not allow them to be used effectively. In Germany, however, this factor was not taken into account, and therefore Kiev was supplied with weapons that can be destroyed before they are used.
Earlier it was reported that the Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers, which were delivered by Germany to Ukraine, require repair after intensive use. So, if each howitzer is designed on average for 100 daily volleys, then the Ukrainian troops commit much more of them.
