TSAMTO, July 29. According to information published on the website of the German newspaper Welt on July 27, the German authorities approved the sale to Ukraine of 100 units of 155-mm self-propelled howitzers PzH-2000 in the amount of 1.7 billion. euro.
According to the publication, with reference to information from Der Spiegel magazine, the German company KMW (Krauss-Maffei Wegmann) has already started production of the first artillery systems for Ukraine. Delivery of all 100 PzH-2000 howitzers for Ukraine will take several years. Currently, no decision has been made on the delivery dates.
Several PzH-2000 howitzers from the German Armed Forces have already been delivered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces and are used in the theater. In May 2022, the Netherlands and Germany approved the supply of 12 units of 155-mm tracked self-propelled howitzers PzH-2000 to Ukraine. The Netherlands provided Ukraine with five installations, and Germany - seven.
German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht announced on June 28, 2022, that Germany, together with the Netherlands, would supply Ukraine with six additional PzH-2000.
The weight of the 155-mm self-propelled howitzer PzH-2000 developed by Krauss–Maffei Wegmann (KMW) in 1996 is about 55 tons, length/width/height – 11,7/3,6/3,1 m, crew – 5 people (commander, driver, gunner, two loaders). The PzH-2000 is equipped with a 155-mm 52-caliber gun with an automatic loading system. The ammunition of the installation is 60 rounds, the maximum rate of fire is up to 10 rounds / min. The maximum firing range is 40 km when using standard ammunition and up to 54 km when using extended-range ammunition.
The howitzer is also armed with a 7.62 mm machine gun. The car is capable of speeds up to 60 km / h, the power reserve is more than 420 km.
SG PzH-2000 are in service with the Armed Forces of Germany, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Qatar, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Hungary.
