Against the background of the military operation to protect Donbass, foreign companies began to announce the termination of work or suspension of sales of their products in Russia.

Companies from a wide variety of segments - aviation, gaming, industrial and others - announced their decision to freeze exports.

TASS has collected basic information about the freezing or stopping of the activities of foreign companies in Russia.

Aviation equipment and cars

  • Aircraft manufacturers Boeing, Airbus and Embraer have suspended the supply of spare parts for their aircraft to Russian airlines, their maintenance and technical support. The Boeing Training center in Skolkovo also temporarily stopped working.
  • Automakers Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volvo, MAN decided to temporarily stop exporting, as well as freeze local production in Russia. Ford Corporation also suspended its activities.
  • Suzuki, Honda, Mazda will not supply cars and motorcycles. General Motors and Scania are suspending deliveries of cars, and Nissan is suspending the Pathfinder crossover.
  • Volkswagen Group Rus has temporarily interrupted the shipment of cars that are already in the Russian Federation to Russian dealerships. Production of Volkswagen Group cars in the country was stopped until further notice.
  • Toyota will suspend production in St. Petersburg from March 4 due to interruptions in the supply of components. Hyundai and Renault - the work of the Russian plant in St. Petersburg and Moscow, respectively, until March 5. Škoda is reducing production due to a lack of components and suspending operations in the Russian Federation.
  • Daimler Truck has frozen cooperation with Russian Kamaz - the company will not produce trucks within the framework of the DK RUS joint venture and supply components.
  • Porsche has decided to stop supplying cars to Russia.
  • French aircraft manufacturer Dassault Systemes suspends new projects in Russia and Belarus.
  • The German manufacturer of tires and automotive components Continental has decided to suspend production and business in Russia. 
  • The management of Ferrari has announced the suspension of production of cars for the Russian market.
  • Lamborghini has announced the suspension of exports to Russia.
  • Austrian engineering and technology concern Andritz suspends the development of new operations in Russia.
  • Multinational car manufacturer Stellantis announced the suspension of car exports to Russia and imports from it.

Electronics and industry

  • Apple has stopped exporting and online trading and restricted the operation of services. Re Stores:Stores that sell the company's equipment did not work for a day, but they reopened on March 3.
  • Nokia ceases operations in Russia.
  • Electronics manufacturer Dell temporarily stops selling products.
  • The German SAP software developer announced that he is leaving Russia, but will continue to serve customers.
  • One of the world's largest software developers Oracle has suspended all operations in the country.
  • The manufacturer of telecommunication equipment Ericsson does not bring goods to customers in the Russian Federation yet.
  • The goods of the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer TSMC will not yet enter Russia, the Elbrus brand semiconductors developed in the country will be produced.
  • Russian buyers will temporarily be unable to receive products from the largest bearing manufacturer SKF.
  • The Munich-based Siemens group, which builds trains, maintains factories and supplies software, has so far stopped operations and deliveries to Russia. At the same time, it continues to fulfill its obligations for maintenance and repair in the Russian Federation.
  • Finnish elevator manufacturer KONE temporarily stops deliveries to Russia. At the same time, the company noted that it will remain on the Russian market.
  • The largest developer of software for construction and mechanical engineering Autodesk (AutoCAD, 3ds MAX) suspends work in Russia. 
  • American Intel announced the suspension of deliveries of its products to Russia.
  • Bloomberg, citing a source, reported that Samsung has suspended the supply of all its products to Russia. However, the Yonhap agency later quoted the company as saying that the suspension of deliveries was due to logistical difficulties. 
  • Komatsu, Japan's largest and the world's second largest manufacturer of construction machinery and equipment, has decided to suspend the supply of its products to the Russian Federation.
  • The American IT company EPAM Systems, which develops software, announced the suspension of servicing Russian customers.
  • The American manufacturer of network equipment and software Cisco Systems Inc. has suspended all business operations in Russia and Belarus.
  • Nvidia also suspended sales of its products in Russia.
  • The British company Unilever, which is one of the world leaders in the production of consumer goods, will suspend the export of products to the Russian Federation, as well as its import from Russia.
  • Colgate-Palmolive has suspended the import of all goods to Russia, except for everyday health and hygiene products.
  • General Electric Company suspends operations in Russia. As an exception, the company will continue to support the operation of essential medical equipment, as well as power supply services.
  • Finnish timber company UPM will suspend the purchase of wood in the Russian Federation and the operation of a plywood plant in Chudov in the Novgorod region.
  • Portuguese pulp and paper manufacturer Navigator suspends operations in Russia and Belarus.
  • The Japanese corporation Hitachi is temporarily suspending its activities in Russia, with the exception of products and technical support of electrical systems and electrical equipment.

  • The manufacturer of lifting equipment Otis announced the sale of the business in the Russian Federation.

Food Suppliers and catering

  • Diageo, the world's largest alcohol producer, will not supply its products yet. The company produces drinks of well-known brands, such as Guinness, Baileys and others.
  • McDonald's is leaving Russia.
  • Heineken suspends the production and sale of beer under the Heineken brand in the Russian Federation, but all plants continue to operate.
  • American Yum! Brands, which owns the KFC and Pizza Hut chains, has suspended investments in Russia. The operation of points that are managed by the company itself, and not by franchise, is suspended.
  • The Danish brewing company Carlsberg has decided to stop new investments in Russia, as well as export deliveries of products from other Carlsberg divisions to the Russian Baltic. 
  • Starbucks has decided to leave Russia.
  • The Coca-Cola Company, which produces soft drinks, will temporarily stop working in Russia. It has 10 factories in different cities in the country.
  • PepsiCo will also not sell drinks, including 7Up and Mirinda, in Russia and engage in advertising. The company will continue to sell essential goods, such as baby food and milk.
  • Finnish dairy producer Valio has decided to curtail its work in the Russian Federation. The company owns a factory near Moscow, where 400 people work.

  • Karl Lagerfeld clothing brand has stopped deliveries to the Russian Federation and closed the opportunity to buy things online. Sales were suspended by H&M. Clothing and accessories retailer ASOS has frozen delivery, it is impossible to place an order on the website. Logistics

  • The transport and logistics company Kuehne+Nage stops delivering goods with the exception of pharmaceutical products and humanitarian aid items. Maersk did the same, but temporarily.
  • DHL, CMA CGM, Fedex and UPS have suspended the delivery of goods and documents to Russia.
  • Stora Enso, a supplier of packaging solutions and biomaterials, will stop all production and sales in Russia.

Education

  •  The British educational corporation Pearson suspends the supply of products and sales of services in Russia and Belarus.
  •  The American educational platform Coursera temporarily stops all its activities in Russia.

What will happen to the employees of the companies?

  • If the company does not work or is idle, the employer is obliged to continue paying employees, said Alexander Shershukov, deputy head of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FNPR). According to him, when an employee is reduced, they cannot be fired immediately - they must be warned, as prescribed in the labor legislation of the Russian Federation. If people's rights are violated, a trade union organization at the workplace can protect them. A person can also do it himself by contacting the labor inspectorate or the court.
  • Unemployment growth in the restaurant segment is not expected. McDonald's employees will try to get a job in other places, so the fast food market will get a large number of workers, and the shortage of personnel will be closed, the president of the Union of Restaurant Managers of Russia, the ombudsman in the field of restaurant business in Moscow Sergey Mironov told TASS. He also clarified that it would be problematic for the KFC fast food restaurant chain to completely leave Russia, since most outlets operate under a franchise.
