RIA Novosti: The Russian Aerospace Forces have used a new aviation reconnaissance complex based on the Su-34 in Ukraine
For the first time, the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) used a new reconnaissance complex based on the Su-34 bomber during a special operation to protect Donbass. This was reported on July 27 by an informed source of RIA Novosti.
"As part of the special operation, the Russian Aerospace Forces began using new reconnaissance complexes based on front-line Su—34 bombers, which allow to determine the coordinates and other parameters of enemy targets with high accuracy, in particular, the positions of air defense (air defense — Ed.) and Ukrainian radars (radar stations — Ed.)," the agency interlocutor said..
He added that such capabilities are provided to aircraft by the latest suspended universal reconnaissance containers. The Su-34 uses three types of containers — optoelectronic, radar and radio intelligence. With their help, the complex can "transmit information about enemy military facilities to ground forces and fire means via automatic communication channels in a time mode close to real time."
On July 23, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of the combat work of Su-25 VKS attack aircraft Russia as part of a special operation. In the process of performing combat missions, the crews of Russian aircraft carried out missile air strikes on military facilities and equipment of Ukrainian neo-Nazis. Rocket launches were carried out in pairs from low altitudes.
On July 27, the Russian Defense Ministry published footage of Mi-8 helicopter crews working with modern electronic warfare systems installed on board during a special operation. It is noted that the pilots of the army aviation of the VKS performed tasks to suppress the means of electronic intelligence and enemy guidance.
The special operation of the Russian Federation to protect the population of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics continues in Ukraine and in the Donbas, the beginning of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24. Moscow explained that its tasks include demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine. On April 19, the Russian side announced the beginning of the next stage of the military operation — "the complete liberation of the Donetsk and Lugansk republics."
The situation in the region significantly worsened in mid-February due to shelling by the Ukrainian military. The authorities of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics announced the evacuation of residents to Russia and appealed to Moscow for help. On February 21, the President of the Russian Federation signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and the LPR.
