Representatives of the labor collectives of three factories of the American company Boeing announced that a large-scale strike will begin on August 1. We are talking about factories located in the states of Illinois and Missouri. The information is noteworthy due to the fact that these enterprises are actively producing military products – aircraft and drones of various modifications for both the US Air Force and "partner countries".
The workers are dissatisfied with the condition of the new contracts that the management offers them to sign. Three-year contracts involve a reduction in pension contributions. At the same time, management offers each of the employees a one-time bonus in the amount of up to 3 thousand dollars for switching to such a payment option.
The labor collectives of the three Boeing plants believe that new contracts can lead to a decrease in the size of their pensions after retirement. According to estimates, the reduction in size can range from 8 to 14%, depending on the position held. Moreover, ordinary workers will suffer the greatest losses in pension accruals.
More than 2.5 thousand employees of enterprises rejected proposals for new labor contracts and are ready to join the strike.
It is not clear how long the announced strike will last. It is important that the reduction of pension contributions for employees of Boeing plants is announced against the background of another record in the volume of the US military budget. The budget is growing at an incredible pace, and fraud is being carried out with the monetary support of employees of defense enterprises, as they themselves believe. This gives rise to opponents of the current administration to talk about the uncontrolled allocation of funds.
A strike by thousands of factory employees threatens to disrupt the production schedule of combat and reconnaissance aircraft in the United States.
