A member of the CAA Rogov announced four APU strikes on the territory of the Zaporozhye NPP in a day
The Ukrainian military fired at a nuclear power plant in the Zaporozhye region, said Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the military-civil administration of the region. As the local authorities said, everything is fine with the station, it is still working. But it is not yet known about the victims and those killed in the attack. Since the beginning of the week, this attack by the APU has already become the third.
The APU fired at the Zaporozhye NPP four times. As a result of the attack, a fire broke out, but it was extinguished in a timely manner, writes TASS.
According to the civil-military administration of the part of the Zaporozhye region controlled by the Russian Armed Forces, the station was attacked by three kamikaze drones (a one-time combat drone).
The representative of the CAA of the region, Vladimir Rogov, said that the territory where the reactors are located was not affected. As for the victims and wounded, there is no information yet.
"The UAVs were equipped with warheads with an explosive mass calculated in kilograms in TNT equivalent," he said.
Rogov also assessed the general condition of the Zaporozhye NPP: everything is fine with the station.
"So far everything is normal [radiation background]. The system that [works] online checks all this and shows that it is," TASS quotes Rogov as saying. He stressed that the drones were hitting the territory of the NPP, and not the power units.
According to Rogov, the NPP is still functioning: "[the NPP] continues to operate normally. And the power units were not hit, but it is significant that the main task is to starve people and punish people for their position," he stressed on the air of the TV channel "Solovyov Live".
At the same time, he did not rule out that the Ukrainian military could fire at the Zaporozhye NPP from American multiple rocket launchers HIMARS. "The Zaporozhye NPP is at the forefront, it is located on the bank of the Dnieper. On the one hand - Energodar, on the other - the territories formally controlled by the Zelensky regime - Nikopol, Manganese and other settlements, they are literally two or three kilometers away. There is an ordinary MLRS, not to mention the "Hurricane", it is available," Rogov is sure.
The Zaporozhye NPP is installed on the shore of the Kakhovsky reservoir in the city of Energodar. It is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.
This is not the first attack of the Zaporozhye NPP by Ukrainian drones in a week. Earlier, Ukraine struck the station on July 18, as a result, 11 people were injured. "During the attack on the Zaporozhye NPP on Monday, 11 employees were injured, four of them are now in serious condition," Vladimir Rogov, a representative of the Zaporozhye region CAA, told RIA Novosti.
In Energodar on July 17, an improvised explosive device was found at a stop from which employees of the local NPP regularly leave. This was also reported by Rogov.
"An improvised explosive device was found, I can confirm. It was at a bus stop in the city center. People immediately reported to law enforcement agencies. They are trying to strike at peaceful people," TASS quoted him as saying.
Rogov also reported on the shelling of a nuclear power plant on July 12. Then two drones of the Armed Forces of Ukraine dropped on the building next to the NPP "two 120 mm caliber mines". As a result, the roof and windows were damaged, there were no casualties or casualties.
At the moment, about 70% of the territories of the Zaporozhye region are under the control of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. Kiev controls the administrative center of the region - the city of Zaporozhye.
On July 20, in his Telegram channel, Rogov expressed the opinion that the Ukrainian army was trying to intimidate the residents of the region in this way. "This is revenge for the desire of the residents of the region to reunite with Russia," the official is sure. But he stressed that Kiev "will not succeed - the referendum will be held, and the safety of residents is provided by the Russian army, Rosgvardiya and the police."
