The engine of the new Mi-171A3 automatically adapts to the operating conditions

VK-2500PS-03 engines developed and manufactured by JSC "UEC-Klimov" (part of the United Engine Corporation Rostec) for the new offshore helicopter Mi-171A3 will allow the machine to operate in any climatic zones. The engine of this type automatically adapts to any changes in the environment with the help of an automatic regulation and control system.

The engine uses an automatic control and control system with full responsibility BARK-6V-7C. It combines a huge number of sensors and measurement systems that monitor the operation of the engine in all modes and can independently adapt them to operating conditions.

The design of VK-2500PS-03 provides for the possibility of operation at any geographical point: on land, at sea, in the tropics and in severe frost, when exposed to sea fog and sea water. The engine performance is ensured in the range of outdoor operating temperatures from minus 50 ° C to plus 60 ° C, reliable engine start is confirmed at an altitude of up to 6000 m.

"Flight tests of the new Mi-171A3 offshore helicopter have recently been successfully launched, there are no complaints about the operation of the engines. The machine will be in demand in Russia and abroad, as well as all domestic helicopter equipment, which has proven itself well in terms of reliability and ease of operation," notes Evgeny Prodanov, director of the VK—2500 program, TV3-117 - chief designer of UEC—Klimov. — When developing the engine, reserves were initially laid down, which in the future would allow improving helicopter technology both in terms of performance and fuel efficiency. I emphasize that we are ready to ensure the production of the required number of VK-2500PS-03 engines."

Reliable operation of the new Russian Helicopters holding machine will be ensured not only due to the design of the motor and control systems, but also due to the use of modern materials and coatings. When developing the engine, the need for its use in humid marine and tropical climates was taken into account, therefore, design solutions, materials and coatings used significantly improve operational qualities. In particular, modern materials of the engine blades prevent corrosion.

The VK-2500PS-03 engine is used as part of a twin-engine power plant of a family of multi-purpose helicopters. JSC "UEC-Klimov" is both a manufacturer and a developer — holder of the VK-2500PS-03 type certificate certified in India, South Korea, Colombia, China.

"Since the Mi-171A3 is designed for long-term flights over the sea, especially high criteria are imposed on the reliability and safety of its power plant. VK-2500PS-03 engines meet strict requirements, because their design uses proven technical solutions that have proven their reliability, optimally combined with modern digital technologies. Thus, the reliability of the power plant has further increased due to the expansion of the range of permitted operating modes," said Sergey Kayumov, chief designer of the directorate of the Mi—8 Mi-17 Helicopters and Their Modifications program.

The Mi-171A3 is the first Russian helicopter developed for offshore operations and maintenance of offshore drilling platforms. It was created in accordance with the standards of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers. The machine fully meets the requirements for ensuring the safety of flights over the water surface, suitable for both cargo and passenger transportation. The helicopter can be used for search and rescue operations.
