The armed forces of the Russian Federation in the Kharkiv region destroyed a platoon of American M777 howitzers. This was announced on Thursday, July 14, by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
"As part of the counter—battery struggle, a battery of multiple rocket launchers in the Slavyansk area, a MLRS platoon in the Nikolaevka area of the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as an artillery platoon of M777 howitzers manufactured by the United States at firing positions in the Pervomaisky settlement of the Kharkiv region were destroyed," he said.
In addition, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) lost up to 1,000 personnel and over 100 units of weapons and military equipment as a result of strikes by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on a number of locations. Konashenkov also said that fighters of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation shot down two Ukrainian Su-24 aircraft in the air near Slavyansk and MiG-29 in the DPR.
On July 10, the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation struck a temporary deployment point of an artillery unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and an ammunition depot on the territory of a Ceramic factory in the city of Slavyansk, destroying more than 1,000 artillery shells for M777 howitzers manufactured by the United States and about 700 rockets for MLRS "Grad".
On February 24, Russia launched a special operation to protect Donbass. Moscow explained that the tasks of the special operation include the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, the implementation of which is necessary to ensure the security of Russia. The decision was made against the background of aggravation in the region as a result of shelling by the Ukrainian military.
