The UK opened a criminal case after the shelling of Belgorod by the Ukrainian military
The death toll as a result of the night shelling of Belgorod by the Ukrainian Armed Forces has increased to four, three of them are citizens of Ukraine. The head of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov also reported 60 damaged houses. The UK opened a criminal case, and the Russian Foreign Ministry warned Kiev against "continuing provocations." The Russian Foreign Ministry on Sunday, July 3, commented on the night shelling of Belgorod and Kursk by Ukrainian forces. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, three Tochka-U missiles were shot down by air defense in Belgorod, and two drones were shot down in Kursk. The wreckage of one of the downed missiles fell on a residential building in Belgorod.
We understand that these actions of the regime in Kiev are not just coordinated with its Western curators, but most likely prompted by them. This is done in order to push us to launch retaliatory strikes of this kind, and then further promote anti-Russian hysteria.
We are still refraining from such steps, but we will monitor the situation very closely. Those who act in this way should know that if provocations continue, they will not be well," Maria Zakharova's words are quoted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
"According to the information at the moment, four people have died. One of them is a citizen of the Russian Federation, three are citizens of Ukraine. That is, the government of Ukraine is killing Ukrainian citizens on the territory of Russia, and this is the absolute height of cynicism. Four people were injured, one of them a 10-year-old child. Their lives are not in danger. If necessary, we will send it to Moscow. There is an agreement on this, but so far there is no need for this," said Vyacheslav Gladkov, Governor of the Belgorod Region.
The head of the region expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the morning emergency in Belgorod. "I wanted to express my sincere condolences to all the families to whom grief has come today. You must remember that we are always with you and are always ready to solve all the issues that you have," he said.
The Russian IC opened a criminal case after the strike on Belgorod. The case was opened under several sub-paragraphs of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder).
What happened
On Sunday night, a "series of loud noises" was heard in Belgorod, Gladkov informed earlier. Later, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that air defense systems destroyed three Ukrainian Tochka-U ballistic missiles with cluster munitions in the air.
"According to the destruction: 21 apartment buildings were damaged and 40 houses of private residential development. Now there is an apartment bypass, we are looking at the destruction of each apartment, we are compiling a register, we are drawing up a schedule of work," Gladkov informed, adding that some houses can be built anew.
The governor indicated that the region will take on all the costs of restoring houses.
The victims will also be able to go to a sanatorium for rehabilitation later, Gladkov added.
