The allied forces of the Russian Army and the People's Militia of the LPR continue their offensive in the area of Lisichansk. Two sabotage groups of foreign mercenaries were destroyed in its vicinity, the Russian Defense Ministry reported on June 27. One of them consisted of so-called Georgian "legionnaires". These militants were involved in the torture and murder of captured Russian servicemen near Kiev in March this year. The criminals were "found and punished," the military department noted. Experts note that from the point of view of international law, mercenaries are outside the law, and most importantly, their actions have no right to moral justification.
In the "legion" — criminals
On Sunday, June 26, three kilometers from the Lisichansk oil refinery, Russian units destroyed two sabotage and reconnaissance groups of mercenaries, totaling 14 militants, the Russian Defense Ministry said. The first group was "international" and consisted of citizens of various European states. The second was staffed by mercenaries from Georgia, who were part of the so-called "Georgian legion".
— Mainly criminals operate in the ranks of this gang. The destroyed Georgian militants were involved in the brutal torture and murder of Russian servicemen near Kiev in March this year. The Russian Defense Ministry has information on every mercenary involved in the bullying and murder of our servicemen. We found them and punished them," said the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Lieutenant General Igor Konashenkov.
In the spring of this year, a video appeared on the Internet where a wounded Russian soldier lying on the road is being killed in the Kiev region. The faces of the participants of the shooting were clearly visible on the video. At least one of the participants of the massacre had previously appeared on the video of the official Ukrainian media as a member of the Georgian "legion".
According to the military department on June 17, 355 "legionnaires" arrived in Ukraine from Georgia. Of these, 120 were destroyed, and 90 left the country. Poland (1831 arrived, 378 were destroyed), Canada (601-162) and the USA (530-214) were in the top three countries from which the "soldiers of fortune" came the most.

Mercenaries from a human point of view are people who are deprived of morality, honor and dignity. They are outside any laws, former UN Deputy Secretary General Sergei Ordzhonikidze told Izvestia.
— These are people who came to kill for money, — he believes. — For this reason, international law classifies them as criminals. They are not covered by the Geneva Convention. A special international convention on combating mercenary activity calls for combating this phenomenon. I think their fate should not cause regret in Western countries. Appeals to treat such people humanely are devoid of any moral grounds. No one ever stood on ceremony with mercenaries.
Those who went to Ukraine to earn money should know that they will have to answer for shots fired towards our soldiers, the expert noted.
"The punishment must be inevitable,— he stressed. — They should know that they will definitely be found. And the punishment should be the most severe.
Sergei Ordzhonikidze added that the mercenaries are subject to the legislation of the state to which they were captured.
— In the DPR, the death penalty is imposed for mercenary activity, — the diplomat reminded.
Shelling of the Armed Forces of the Kharkiv region
The Ukrainian regime is trying to implement another provocation to accuse the Russian Armed Forces of creating an energy and humanitarian crisis on the territory of the country, Mikhail Mizintsev, head of the National Defense Management Center of the Russian Federation, said on June 27.
To do this, the Ukrainian command placed artillery and MLRS at the Krivoy Rog thermal power plant. Since June 24, this equipment has been shelling the Northern districts of the Kharkiv region every day, provoking retaliatory fire from Russian forces.
"Such actions of the Ukrainian authorities once again demonstrate the readiness of the Kiev regime to sacrifice the well—being of its citizens for the sake of a new loud provocation," Mikhail Mizintsev stressed.
He does not rule out that, having failed to provoke the Russian Armed Forces to strike at the TPP, the Ukrainian nationalists may blow it up themselves. And after that, to present to the world community fake evidence of Russian shelling. Destroyed the barrier squad

— In order to hold the personnel of the first battalion of the 72nd mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Volcheyarovka, a "detachment" of the Nazi formation "Right Sector" was sent (prohibited in Russia). The Russian artillery destroyed this unit, — said Igor Konashenkov.
According to him, the commander of the 115th separate mechanized brigade lost control of his units, which led to the loss of 80% of the personnel and about 70% of the equipment of the 138th battalion of the brigade.
On June 26, the Russian Aerospace Forces struck with four high-precision air-launched missiles at the workshops of the Artyom Rocket Construction Corporation in Kiev, where ammunition for Ukrainian multiple launch rocket systems was produced. All the missiles reached the target, the object was hit, and the civilian infrastructure was not damaged, the Defense Ministry said.
At the same time, the Kiev regime tried to intercept Russian missiles with anti-aircraft weapons stationed in the city. More than ten anti-aircraft missiles were fired by S-300 and Buk M1 calculations, but due to the lack of coupling of air defense systems and radio equipment launchers located in urban quarters, two S-300 missiles were shot down by Ukrainian Buks. One of them, presumably, fell on a residential building.

As part of the counter-battery struggle in the Donetsk direction, three platoons of the Grad MLRS, a platoon of 155-mm M-777 howitzers, two artillery platoons of 152-mm Hyacinth howitzers and two platoons of 2S1 Gvozdika self-propelled guns were destroyed by high-precision weapons of the Russian Aerospace Forces.
Russian air defense units shot down ten Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles, two Tochka-U tactical missiles and a multiple launch rocket system during the day.

On June 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin posthumously awarded the title of Hero of Russia to Senior Lieutenant Alexander Popov. The decree says that he was awarded the highest award for courage and heroism shown in the performance of military duty.

Having received reinforcements, the VFU formations attempted to surround a small unit of paratroopers. Repelling this attack, Alexander destroyed nine nationalists with a shot from an ATGM, bringing panic into their ranks. Alexander himself was wounded by fragments of a shell that exploded nearby, but he did not evacuate to the rear. Unfortunately, continuing to fire, Alexander received another serious wound.
— To the last, performing military duty, showing courage and heroism, Alexander Popov ensured the retention of a strategically important frontier at the cost of his life, — the Defense Ministry noted.

With the help of the information received, the Russian gunners destroyed the stronghold and the nationalists on it.
After that, Kandalov's group noticed Ukrainian saboteurs, a shootout ensued, as a result of which a paratrooper was wounded. Konstantin took him to a safe place, and after providing first aid, continued the fight. Noticing that the nationalists were trying to surround the group, Kandalov opened fire on them with small arms. Despite the concussion, Konstantin Kandalov continued the fight, as a result, the group of nationalists was completely destroyed.
Since the first days of the special military operation, Dmitry Chemyshev has been providing the command of the grouping of Russian troops with communications at the forward control point. When relocating to a new operational area, Dmitry Chemyshev's armored column was fired at by the enemy. A battle ensued, as a result of which the antenna on the hardware machine was damaged and the communication inside the column was disrupted.
Dmitry, under continuous enemy fire, risking his life, promptly repaired the equipment and restored the broken connection, which allowed artillery units to destroy the firing points of Ukrainian neo-Nazis.
